What laptop please at under 1.1kg weight?

you didn't say what you want to use the laptop for. if it is for everyday have a look at samsung netbooks 1.2 kg around 10 hours battery life 160 or 250G HD duel processor with all bells and whistes for under £150. i didn't use to think they are any good but i bought one 3 weeks ago for my daughter and i found it fast and very usefull as long as i don't want play game on it ( difficult on 10 ot 12" screen anyway) or do a very larger spread sheet.

Trail a wire, and take the battery out of the laptop. It's the heaviest component. Save your work often in case the dog pulls the plug out.

Not all laptops work without the battery inserted.

You what?!? I have heard of some laptops which have small power supplies. These will dip into the battery in moments of high demand to supplement the mains power. If the battery isn't present, they just slow the processor down to save a little power. I've never heard of a laptop which won't run without its battery. That would be pretty undesirable, since the battery is often the first component to fail.
Pretty easy to check your laptop's no-battery operation though, isn't it.
Anybody out there got a laptop that won't run without a battery?
