Three mobile dongle

Hi Moneysavers,

Long time viewer, very new member.
I recently moved home (Student, short-term lettings) and to bridge the gap between getting home broadband installed and moving I decided to get a 3 dongle.

I purchased one of the new E367 modems with a £15.99/month 30 day rolling contract.

The reason I did this is that the 3-gig included payg dongle was £28.99 so I did the maths and thought 17.99 POS then £15.99 before cancelling would equal £33.98 - I'd consider it worth an extra £5 for 3x the bandwidth. However I recently realized that I'm to be charged £15.99 for the first month - that's on top of the £17.99 paid in the store. So in total for two months broadband it will cost me £49.97!

I was assured at the counter that the purchase price of the modem included the first 30 days 5gig, I asked more than once just to make sure and received the same answer. Furthermore my first bill is nearer £19 as three have separated the first five days for no apparent reason - so my contract now runs from the 5th of every month despite purchase and registration taking place on the 1st.

Is there anything I can do? I suspect not, I doubt I could prove I was mislead at the POS, but either way I thought it would be useful for people to know the actual cost of the first two months.

They have obviously adjusted your payment cycle to fit in with their billing cycle, this is quite normal.

If you have been mis-sold the dongle I can only suggest going back to the store and speak to the manager.
