I've just been quoted £1500 to relay a new pipe (£30 / metre @ 36m + stop tap and entry into property). It's turned out to be an expensive affair.

What if they chop through my neighbours power cable which runs through where it needs digging and die? I'd also be liable to pay for their power cable to be fixed. It's 36 metres, not a few feet across a small lawn. It took me 2 hours to dig a hole 3 feet deep the other night. It was a nightmare, rubble and half enders and all sorts, made it really hard work. It needs moling.

it doesnt need moling. youve got a simple decision.. pay 2k for the person who gave you the quote, or muck in and do it yourself.
just out of interest does the £30 is it for moling or is it for open cut trenching?does it include re-instatement?

You can get round the power issue easily. Use a detector which u can hire.
