Depends when the OP passed their test. It may be 7.5 plus trailer.;)0 -
also depends on the OP's age a lot of hire company specify over 25 for van hire.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Sadly, I'm well over 25.

I passed my test in 1988. What's a 3.5 or a 7.5 thing in terms of what Arnold Clark hires? What kind of van would that be?
Would I get furniture in it?
Apologies for being embarrassingly naive. It's always been my OH who has done any previous van hiring but he's not here right now and I'm sitting here mulling over some options.Herman - MP for all!

3.5 or 7.5 is vehicle gross weight in tons think of a small lorry or large van as the difference.
A normal transit type van would be too small to take tall stuff like wardrobes but a Luton body is taller. Also Luton body vans tend to come with a tail lift.
A 7.5t should take a smallish house contents in one but a 3.5t would struggle to get it all in.
When I moved house I hired a LWB LDV Luton body 2.5t van. Did everything in 3 trips but we were only moving 4 miles.0 -

That is a 7.5t, and I think you can drive it if you passed in 88. Don't think you'll struggle with furniture in that!0 -
Also look at van with man services if your just looking to move stuff from A-B some really cheap guys out there making peanuts so may aswell use them if you can get it cheaper!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

Thankfully I'm only moving a mile. Not sure I'd be comfortable driving something like that! Thankfully on my 1997 issued licence I can't anyway.0
