Flight Advice Leeds to Miami

We are looking to fly to Miami during the summer hols for 2 weeks (between 23rd July and 5th Sept)

We would be returning from Orlando.

We would prefer to fly from a northern airport but would consider any airports for the best price and least number of stops.

Which is the best way to go about searching?

I assume you mean for this year? If you must fly from Leeds, you will have to fly to Amsterdam and charge, Arkefly have just started flying to both Miami and Orlando, the same plane stops twice but for peak summer, you have left it far too late for cheap fares.

There are no direct flights to Miami from anywhere in the UK apart from London, my view is changing planes in the US adds three or four hours to the flight and can be a nightmare but others are happy to do it to save money. However the ability to save money is long gone now anyway, the cheapest fare in mid August, which should be cheaper than the end of July, is £754 with US Airways, not the worlds greatest by any means, via Philadephia mid week

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes it is this year and it is short notice due to an unexpected windfall (would be going camping otherwise!').

I bascially want to weigh up whether we are better travelling to heathrow and flying from there to miami or from Leeds/Bradford to Euope and onward to Miami.

The intention is to spend the first week with friends in Miami and the the second week in Orlando.

It would appear that it is better value to do
    heathrow-miami-miami-heathrow
    or
    manchester-orlando-orlando-manchester

    rather than heathrow-miami-orlando-heathrow.

Kayak.co.uk is probably your best best. Allows to search +- 3 days on the flights.

Personally I'd always fly direct rather than having to make a connection (whether it be in Europe or the US).
Doing slightly less than 2 weeks (Mon 22 Aug - Sat 3 Sep, LHR - MIA) is coming in at £482. Hard to beat that price!
  • We live in the north east, but always travel to Heathrow for a direct flight to the US. I've never looked into how much it would cost to fly from here to LHR, though, we just drive down and stay in a Travelodge at Heathrow.
From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!

Hi, I think our best option will be to drive down to LHR. There are no direct flights from Leeds/Bradford to LHR anymore (you have to fly via edinburgh!!!)
