Is there any point in men entering comps for handbags/dresses/make-up etc?

Just wondering this. I've been fairly successful so far (hooray) with comping but whenever I see a competition to win something 'feminine' - especially on facebook - it always goes to a woman, despite being 'random'. I've got lots of female relatives so I enter these comps but I'm just wondering if I'm wasting my time. Sadly, although my other half does have a fabulous set of breasts, he's just fat, so I can't enter in his name ;)

I've started using my birth name which luckily is unisex and marking myself as a Ms - I suppose if they ask I could be 'having a change' or being a bit butterfingers. I'd welcome your thoughts!

I kinda of agree with you as I have never won a womans comp and I always use my own name(im a man by the way). it wont stop me entering but i do think they always seem to go to women, I enter comps for Dresses and Shoes all the time and have never won them, who knows maybe more women enter comps.

I think generally there is a 60/40 ratio of women compers to men therefore women win more, might even be 70/30 split in favour of the women.

Heh, true - it just seems a bit...unfair!

I'm also trying to figure out whether or not to invent some fictional children - the amount of posts I've seen under competitions where the fact that 'I'm a single mother of XYZ' gets mentioned astounds me, even if it is for something like a power drill! #

    Everyone has a strategy :)

Maybe because less men enter those competitions, so statistically its more likely to go to a woman. I'd keep trying if you really want a dress. :)

I fully intend to - I mean I have the curves! I love entering these comps and I love the crack on here so it's not a hardship!

I can't see why you have posted this? If you enter competitions then you know competition promoters choose random winners, it is stated in the terms and conditions, you should know this by now as you have won a couple yourself.

The odds are the same whatever competition you enter, whether that be for a wedding dress or a fishing pole.

If you search back through the posts on the IWIWIW board you will see this.

I posted this because I had a valid question. Where I don't doubt that the result is 'random', I do wonder if when the random generator pulls out a male for a very female competition, they press the button again...!

Just wanted to know what people thought. I wasn't aware that there was rules as to what we can/should post...?

  • On this same subject, and i say this in a non provocative way .. just what i've noticied since i'm new to comping.

Basically whenever i see the "winners" of Facebook competitions, it alway's seems to me that the women ALWAYS win them.

Ok maybe it's all in my head and everything. But whenever they go to annouce the winner of an ipad or new phone or whatever .. it's alway's a women's name that comes out lol.

Ok lemme put it like this, do you think some company's favour women over men to win they're prizes?.

Again this is'nt meant to upset or annoy anybody, just a question.

Demonicale - that's exactly my thoughts too. Fair enough the normal comps, but FB prizes always seem to go to the ladies!
