I know this thread is old now but just to let you all know that my daughter was awarded DLA, we got the letter this morning. So relieved after all the horror stories I read ! Glad its all sorted now though. Thanks for all the helpful answers and all the information guys xxx0

Thankyou for the update. Its always nice to see what the outcome was. Next thing to help you is to see if there is an autistic support group in your area or if not, start your own. You'll be surprised how much having a coffee once a week or fortnight with parents that have the same experiences as you can help. You'll also get some valuable advice and hints such as finding out about autistic friendly cinema screenings, chew toys to stop them shoving their T-shirt or jumper collars in their mouths and munching on them...
