Advise on lost HTC
I managed to lose my phone on Friday night while out, it rang up until midday yesterday so guessing it has not been stolen just lost and now the battery has died. Ihave been on to HTC Sense locked the phone, offered a £50 reward etc, however, if someone finds it and removes the sim card etc does it mean i will not be able to track it, or is it all done through the IMEI number.
Thanks
Thanks

It may have run up till midday and then someone turned it off or battery died - either way its lost.
You can't track it with or without the sim card, yeah you can ring it if its on - but you need to tell the network its lost so they put a stop on the sim card being used and you getting billed for it.
The network will block the IMEI so phone can't be used on any network in UK but the phone could go abroad and be used.0 -
Your HTCsense website works!! lucky you, had my DHD for 8 months and it has never worked.
As for your question, I'm pretty sure it is done through your sim card.0 -
thanks, seems pointless having it unless it works through the imei, shame i did not know about sense earlier as i could have tracked its location. Oh well guess i will just have to part with a few hundred pounds and buy a new one. I just wish i could retrive all my contacts.0

If it's like Wavesecure (and not been factory reset) it may well work with a different SIM still, so don't lose hope yet.0

It might be that the HTC Sense.com stuff is linked to the phones software rather than the SIM, in which case if someone uses it without wiping the phone you'll still be able track it.0

Thank you, Can anyone cnfirm if this is the case??0

I got an android app on my htc which sends a message to 3 of my friends when a new sim is inserted. I don't think you have a really good chance of getting your phone back but i am wrong most of the time.0

Care to share this app?
As for OP getting the phone back, chances are slim. You've done the most important - block the sim card and report to your carrier.Jake_Oswalt wrote: »I got an android app on my htc which sends a message to 3 of my friends when a new sim is inserted.0
