  • You don't say why you don't fancy Turkey so I don't know your reasons.

But I'd say to have a look at an area in Turkey called Lara Beach (fly to Antalya).

Its an area just built up over the past 12 years and is basically a stretch of 5 star ultra all inclusive hotels with their own water slides and funfairs etc. They're of very high quality (excellent food)and in particular I'd recommend The Royal Wings hotel (although we also loved the Royal Palace and Titanic hotels).

Have a look at the reviews on trip advisor :) Very different to what my old impression of Turkey was.

We are going to turkey this september with our two grand kids and we are staying at the alba queen which is in colakli near side. we have been all over turkey and to be honest we were getting tired of bodrum and dalaman areas (not that there is anything wrong with these places) we did look at lara beach but school holidays were roughly £1000 more than the colakli area and the alba queen was highly reccomended.

Egypt was our best holiday so I probably am no use!
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

Cuba is fantastic but not cheap. Domincan Republic is lovely and has some big complexes that cater for children. August isn't cheap for anywhere really.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

We love San Miguel in Puerto San Miguel Ibiza. Great for families with plenty going on. Staff are greast and animation team really make the holiday. It would cost just under £3000 with Thomson with free child place. Free child places go very quickly though. When I came back from my holiday last year at the end of August and tried to book for this year they were all gone.

Have you given Cyprus any thought.?. We stayed in paphos and it was lovely. The island is fairly small about a 2hr drive to Aya Nappa the opposite side of the island and easy too as they drive on the same side of the road as us. It does get mighty hot though in August so if you can't stand the heat it may not be for you.

We did AI in Egypt last year and we didn't have any of the problems you mention and we would go back.

Our resort wasn't the most expensive but it did the job and we had a lovely 2 bed apartment which was less than 5 mins walk away from the restaurant/bar and we had a large swimming pool about 5 m from our front door.

We are looking at holidays for next year as well - and Barbados/Dom Republic look quite good - but it depends on your budget
