I cant agree more and I am going to have a look at this hotel now as we have been looking for 2012 too.Did you book direct or through a tour operator? Hope you enjoy your holidayAi can't be done on the cheap ............ you hear too many horror stories
But if willing to pay the extra , a wonderful time is had.Third year running to turkey ,this is my choice this year

Unless you like heat and humidity day and night i would avoid the Caribbean (Dom Rep, Cuba. Barbados, etc) during August. It really is not pleasant!
Where abouts in Egypt did your friends go? I suspect it is Sharm el Sheikh and maybe got bad tummies? Have a look at other areas of Egypt such as Hurghada, El Gouna and Makadi Bay. There really are some fab hotels with loads for adults and kids here.
Also Belek and Lara Beach in Turkey and the excellent Olympic Lagoon Resort in Ayia Napa, Cyprus.:beer:0 -

I can cope with the heat , a cold drink works wonders , but as stated its the humidity that is the killer .0
