Thank god I'm not the only one! Doubtless a lovely person but those kids don't half get an airing!Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0

I enter the comps as they're posted rather than waiting till the last minute but it really is pot luck with the majority, obviously not with the ones that require effort which I really enjoy doing myself & which tend to have fewer entries so more chance of winning.
Have you tried the comps in the dailies? I've had lots of success with those, e.g. Whatsontv, pickmeup, look & Now although I've also won on lots of the other dailies too. I try to spend up to 3 hours a day comping but depends on how I'm feeling as I have an illness which causes chronic pain & exhaustion but whenever I can I'm entering comps as, not only does it keep the brain active when you're not able to work, but it's also fun just entering & takes your mind off negative things like pain & the winning's a bonus.
I've been very lucky since October last year averaging a prize a day & I put a lot of it down to positive energy, which may sound daft, but I believe that positivity is the key to success in everything you do.
I'm sure that there's a win on it's way to you soon but I'm sending you some of my lucky comping fairy dust which has not only worked for me but has worked for friends & fellow MSEers when they've been going through a dry spell. I hope to hear from you very soon with your first win...hopefully more than a sausage

Oh, thank goodness it's not just me who thinks that!
"I'm a single mother of x and they go without so many things."
We could all pull on the heart strings and make them feel sorry for us, but then it wouldn't be a competition..... it would be who has the saddest story (or who can lie the biggest!!)Thanks to all posters :A0 -

I'm going through a dry spell too, I know it's dis-heartening & you think ...why am I doing this, but trust me, it won't last for long & before you know it you'll get a WEM or better still a winning telephone call. Try comping differently, do a few postcard comps & local comps...... & try a few comps that require effort as they always have lower entries
My last dry spell I almost gave up completely ( & I've been comping for years & years )............then I won with ITV
Remember too, it never hurts to take a break & sometimes you'll come back to comping with renewed vigour & win loads! I always take a few breaks a year.
Good luck to you
I was thinking about breaks as it seems people who have breaks win more, I am not sure how long to do it for. My two week honeymoon will be a start but that's not till March! No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -

See, that's exactly how I feel. It could be a competition for a drill, a holiday or some bath products and the fact that they're a single mother or have kids will get mentioned without a doubt. It's manipulative and exploitative and I genuinely hope
it doesn't work.
I mean, my cat has a gammy eye, but do I mention that when I'm trying to win a new hoover? No! :rotfl:Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0 -

That's hilarious....PMSL!
I had a break from comping too...and when I came back to it, I won a biggie within a month. Currently going through a dry spell again, but it's still a worthwhile hobby....better than smoking and cheaper than going clubbing etc.:rotfl:0 -

I've comped on and off since first joining MSE and never won anything but that's the thing about luck! A friend of mine on facebook barely goes a week without winning something :rotfl:
I only really go for the things I would like/could use and there is no way I could comp for 3 hours a day, I work 10 as it is!
Just remember that everyone who enters generally has the same chance as everyone else
Very happily married on 10th April 2013

Maybe that's where we are going wrong! You start mentioning your poor, poor cat..... even if entering for clothing or makeup - say your cat will be happy to see you prancing around in your prize, adding your cat doesn't smile much :rotfl:
I haven't really got a sob story..... well, things that I would rather not share with everyone..... hmmm.... anybody have any ideas what I could "use"?? :cool:Thanks to all posters :A0 -

Just pop out a baby. The cost of raising a child will pale in comparison to the sums raised by selling a Sodastream on ebay or a weekend in Whitehaven for 2 with £150 petrol money.
Like I said though, everyone has their strategies and that's fair enough. It's just finding one that works for you!Comping wins this month: 2 x business class flights anywhere we like | Horse vitamins (!) | New kettle | Motorcycling prints | Signed LPs | Thanks to all!0
