I think its just completely random (obviously depends on the amount of comps you enter each day, the more you enter, the more chance of winning something) I sometimes go months without a win but then i've had loads of wins in the past 4 weeks. Keep going, that big win may be just round the corner
YOU'VE GOT TO BE IN IT TO WIN IT :j:j0 -
I shouldn't think you are doing anything wrong. Its just the luck of the draw. Wins can be few and far between, it is possible to go days , weeks and months without a win. There is no guarantuee of a win regardless of how many you enter or the date you enter. The only definate is that if you don't enter you definately won't win. So keep entering the comps you are interested in I am sure a win will come along.
Patience is essential if your going to take up this hobby so just enjoy the entering and if it is winding you up or making you angry and frustrated then maybe this isnt the right hobby for you,Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Birmingham Childrens Hospital caring for my tiny and very poorly grandson who was born at 29 weeks. Thanks to them he is getting a little stronger every day.:A:A:A0 -
Definately keep going,
I have been doing competitions for 2 years, I enter all my competitions the day before. In summary I have won
Ipad
Iphone 4
Ipod Nano
2 x Wii
1 Nintendo 3DS
1 Flicker Scooter
1 Rip Ryder Bike
A weekend Spa Break in Portugal
3 Night Luxury Break in Malta
Flying Lesson
Microlight Experience
And loads of smaller prizes. Keep going, enjoy the expectation, of what the postman might bring! this keeps me going. Often he brings nothing, but maybe he will!! you never know which day will be your lucky one, thats what entering competitions is all about,

Well I have been doing competitions for 3 years and not won as much as IcelandicMaiden so it is really the luck of the draw. I know how frustrating it is not to win the 'big' things, I wonder sometimes why I bother but I guess you have to be in it to win it!No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -
I've been comping for nearly 2 months and had 2 amazing wins in June but not won more than a pack of playing cards this month! I guess it's just random luck!Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :-)

Well if you're only entering competitions with sausages for prizes then I'm not surprised you're not winning as they are few and far between!!
How many comps do you enter on average a day? Also what are you going for, big prizes like cash, holidays, electrical goods, etc. or are you also going for smaller prizes like DVDs and books? The smaller prize competitions get a lot less entries than other.
Or if you have the time entering effort-based comps may be worth while.2009 Wins = £833
2010 Wins = £6,597
2011 Wins = £7,083
£2,012 in 2012 = £450/£2,012
20 in 2012 = 4/200 -
Aw Shaz, we though lean patches, it's not that you're doing anything wrong.
I'm going through a dry spell too, I know it's dis-heartening & you think ...why am I doing this, but trust me, it won't last for long & before you know it you'll get a WEM or better still a winning telephone call. Try comping differently, do a few postcard comps & local comps...... & try a few comps that require effort as they always have lower entries
My last dry spell I almost gave up completely ( & I've been comping for years & years )............then I won with ITV
Remember too, it never hurts to take a break & sometimes you'll come back to comping with renewed vigour & win loads! I always take a few breaks a year.
Good luck to you"Every time you feel yourself getting pulled into someone else's nonsense, tell yourself: Not my circus, not my monkeys." - Mark Borkowski.

Id say be patient, I love entering comps, it makes every day exciting, checking your morning emails and waiting for the postman to come because sometimes things just turn up! ive had a few good wins and ive only been doing it since may.
I did all the previous comps and now do them as soon as they are posted, about 100+ a day. What a great hobby!Best wins so far

Hi shaz,
How many comps do you enter per day?
The thing I enjoy about comping is imagining the lovely prizes when I enter. I never expect to win but its the thought that I could that keeps me going.
I would also agree that going for the smaller prizes is a good strategy as they are the ones that keep you going through the dry spells.
GL and most importantly enjoy.
