This didn't happen this year but it still makes me smile thinking about it...:D
My mum cooked our turkey on christmas day, and when it came out of the oven she made the cat go outside so it wouldn't go near it but forgot that at the time they were having an old outside toilet knocked through and there was a hole in the floor to leval the floors up.
The cat got through the hole and tucked into the turkey!
She managed to defrost some chicken fillets though and kind of recued the meal but we were telling our uncle the story over the dinner table, he asked "What happened to the turkey" and we all chorused "we gave it to you!" and fell about laughing! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

DP forgot to put turkey in and ended up eating at 8.30 pm but only after DP realising he had cooked turkey upside down (!!!!!!)maybe the empty bottles of red wine had someting to do with it
You're supposed to cook it upside down anyway as it helps to keep the breast meat moist. Illegitimi non carborundum.0 Illegitimi non carborundum.0

we had christmas yesterday and the only disaster was that my veggie savoury custard thing would not set. dd and i spent ages arranging hot wet leek leaves around the casserole dish before pouring the mixture in so that it could be turned out to gasps of amazement. After 3 hours in the oven with the potatoes threatening to carbonise we gave up and stuck it under the grill. It was still a little sloppy and was christened "christmas sludge" by the other dds who were already moaning about their veggie christmas.
Worst was the year i was about 8 - who ever had extended the table forgot to do the clips underneath. as mum carved the turkey the entire table collapsed with everything on it. I think we just salvaged the best bits!I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080
