Private parking ticket

Husband uses a room at the weekend for rehearsals with his band. It's a shared room and there's one parking permit, which is left in the room for the next band.
On arrival today, the permit was missing. The guy who owns the room was there and told husband it would be fine to park there and that he was getting a replacement permit on Monday. He said that a member of one of the other bands has already got a ticket and is going to dispute it with a copy of the replacement permit, once owner has picked this up.
Low and behold, husband has got a ticket. It's a private company and the fine is for £80. I'm dubious about what husband was told by the room owner. Does anyone know what our chances are of fighting this?
Thanks in advance.

He doesn't have to "fight anything" . He dosen't owe them a penny. Just ignore all the stupid letters that will come his way and do not contact the parking company. For further reassurance please read the "stikies" at the top of this forum. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Thanks trisontana. I did read the sticky but it talks about "unfair" tickets. Is the advice to ignore still sound even though husband knowingly parked without a permit?0

Ignore it!0

Yes there are hundreds of people on here who have received private parking tickets. (including me)
I'm not aware of anyone being taken to court.
Just ignore the letters, don't make contact with them. They are cowboys.
The letters will probably get intimidating with court and bailiff threats but after about 6 they will go away.

All private tickets are "unfair" because they try and claim money which bears no relation to the actual losses suffered by the landowner. That's all they can actual claim for. In you husband's case this amounts to zero. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Ignore it and ignore all the "silly letters" they will send, they only stop becoming silly letters if you are stupid enough to believe all the rubbish in them.
However, your hubby should now contact the rehearsal studio and inform them that he will no longer be using their services due to them allowing a private parking company to subject him to threats an harassment and stick to it.

You did not read the relevant sticky threads, AFAIK none of them talk about whether a fake PCN is unfair or not (maybe the ParkRight sticky does but that one isn't useful). You presumably read an article by Martin Lewis if you read read about not paying 'unfair tickets'. Martin's article is completely separate from this forum.
Here are the stickies at the top of the forum, you need to read 'PPC letters what to expect' and 'welcome, please read before posting':
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
Once you have seen the scary letters and know that Court does NOT follow, and once you have seen the Watchdog clip on the other sticky thread you will know the score. Make sure your husaband sees the Watchdog clip and letter-chain pictures too.
All PPC bogus PCNs are a scam. Forget them.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks all. I got a letter today ("Notice to Owner of Intent to Issue Court Proceedings"). It's £120 now. It does say on it, in red and in capitals, that liability for the charge lies with the driver. Trying to decide now whether to just ignore or whether to write back and say I wasn't the driver so I won't be paying.0
