Outlook 2010 password

Have been using Outlook 2010 without a password but tried to connect this morning and the password box appeared, prior to this it was just connecting. I put in my password and it won't accept it and won't connect.

Yesterday at pc shutdown there were Windows 7 and Office 2010 updates.

Any ideas please?

This quite often happens when the mail server (presumably with your ISP) is down. The problem is that if you enter a wrong password at this point, it usually overwrites the stored good password with the entered bad one - so even when the mail server comes back online, it fails to connect.

    Try going into:
Start > control panel > mail > Show Profiles.. and create a new profile. see what happens there.

If you go to the account settings in Outlook and select to change the account, you should be able to enter the password again (make sure the remember box is ticked).
