i've just had an email from o2 to renew my broadband, i think i'd rather ring them rather than clicking the lick to renew, i am on the original broadband which has the unlimited downloads, for £9.50 (used to be £7.50)
just to prepare myself are o2 likely to try and get me to change my tariff to one of their selected packages
or are they now not hassling people as much now to change i'd just like to know before i ring
many thanks

You don't need to 'renew' your broadband service. If you contact them you will doubtless be pushed towards moving onto one of the newer and inferior tariffs.
Your contract has simply reached the end of it's minimum term, if you take no action it will continue on the present terms as a 30 day rolling contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Had the same e mail and am on the same unlimited, the link included a tick box agreeing to terms and conditions but did not say what the new tariff would be.
I phoned them and after options got put through to retentions.
They have kept me on the same unlimited at the same monthly price but the first 3 months will be free, just as they were last year.0 -
They are trying to trick people into moving to a new contract with a 12 month minimum period, if you have the unlimited rather than a capped service even if it is 300mb then stay with the unlimited because if you become dissatisfied with the service before 12 months are up they will make you pay for the remaining months if you try and leaveSomeone please tell me what money is0

decided to ring instead as someone suggested in a pm, i was told i'd be kept on the same package nothing would change apart from the price i was offered 3 months free then £9.50 per month or 12 months at £6.95 i decided to go for the latter,0

Check in your accounts pages what service you are actually going on to!
You did not have to sign a new contract, you could have kept it going on a monthly basis.
New packages are pants and i was on such a rolling older contract on LLU.0 -

You don't have to enter a new contract, but you are offered a loyalty discount for doing so.0 -
Just making sure he remains on old rolling contract, have heard similar stories and changed over to new.0

I will rephrase that to remaining on old contract which will show in My O2 if going on to something else or not, check pronto.0
