I'm not sure how Milk and More are set up - is it a sort of federal arrangement of independent dairies using them to trade online?

I've been with them for more than 2 years and my milkman has never missed a day and billing is very smooth.
  • I found the offer for £10 free shopping from Milk and More, which I thought I may as well have. Then I realised I wouldn't be in on that day and cancelled my order.

And yet even though I cancelled and the initial order was supposed to be free anyway, they still happily took £10 from my account the next month. I call, they won't delete my account or remove my card details, money is never refunded, so I have to dispute the charges through Natwest and eventually get it back.

Lo and behold, they took £10 out of my account again last week, even though I've never ordered a thing from them since the cancelled order. I spent ages on hold, which probably cost £10 in itself, and have been assured of a refund. But I doubt I'll get it - I don't want to call that expensive number again, so I'm stuck basically.

Should I just cancel my card? Or could Natwest block M&M from taking any more money without my permission?
  • Our doorstep service with Milk & More has on the whole been fine but the new customer care line is awful. It used to go to Ireland but now it is somewhere abroad and the staff just work to a script. We had a pint with a broken seal and it took me ages to get it sorted with the operator!
  • I use Milk and More as living in a small village with no shop I think that to preserve the milkman's delivery will help older people who do not have the luxury of a car and very good public transport. I was let down seriously over Christmas when my debit card expired and no one had told me! I then received an email telling me that ( despite having placed a large order for delivery the Saturday before Christmas) Milk and More were 'suspending' my account! I have NEVER not paid by direct debit and have NEVER owed them a penny. I rang several times and was left hanging on the phone to the phillipines for about twenty minutes. Then when I finally got through to some one they could not understand what I was talking about and kept repeating back to me what I already knew! They kept telling me i could not pay what I owed ,but only the FULL amount, some of which I had not either recevied or even been invoiced for! I refused to pay for what I had not had and said that I was happy to pay the amount owing. After three more days of hassle, by which time it was the Friday before Christmas Saturday, I was at my wits end. I finally managed to pay the amount I owed and three times I asked for the assurance that I would receive my Saturday order saying that if I didn't it would mean I had no milk or cream for Christmas day or boxing day. I was assured that it would arrive............... It didn't. I ended up having to brave the supermarket on Sunday which is precisely what I wanted to avoid. Guess what ? The items I had ordered came on MONDAY! So now I had two lots!I have been told, magnanimously, I think, that they will not charge me for the Monday delivery. I am furious, and they know it. I think this is a matter for more than just a non charge, I should get compensation for all the stress it caused me!
  • we been with them over a year never had a problem maybe the odd item not in stock if I have ordered late but that's fair enough. As they use local milk men I would put it down to your milkman as I say never a problem

I think Graham is probably right - it has a lot to do with the actual milkman. Where I used to live the milkman was fantastic and I loved using the service. Since moving house and having a different milkman the service has been absolutely dire. I've had smashed eggs, squashed fruit and veg, food left in my filthy compost bin which I haven't found for days, milk bags left in puddles, bottles rarely collected, 9 out of 10 orders incorrect or incomplete, he never uses my Milk & More coolbag in summer to name a few.

The final straw was a few days before Xmas - I stopped using them ages ago because they're so awful but they emailed me with 2 good offers and said that they could deliver last minute bits in time for Xmas. I didn't fancy going to the busy supermarket so ordered a few essentials to arrive on the 22nd. I only got 3 out of the 6 things I ordered and one item was wrong. I checked my account that evening and the cheeky blighter of a milkman had marked the whole order as 'delivered'. I spent 10 minutes trying to get through on the 0845 number before giving up. I finally spoke to someone on Thursday who promised to sort it out but my account still shows everything as delivered so it looks like I'll be making another call to make sure I don't end up paying for the lot.

They really have been awful in my area, I would give your milkman a chance but you may be very unlucky like I've been and find its not worth the grief.

Had a good service in my town, Didcot. I only order milk, but there are no missed deliveries etc so all good here.
As previous people have said, its the local milkman in your area whos bad, no the company. However, the call centre is really rubbish, maybe they should support the british economy by having a british call centre??

    Be gone ebil debts!!
