But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :j
*I'm going to the Tall Ships Race today. I'll walk there cos the Park and Ride is going to be ridiculously expensive and take a packed lunch.
*Check OnePoll.
*Checked Quidco: there's £10 showing up for a credit card application that was unsuccessful so I suppose it won't pay out. Earn a couple of quid ordering freebies on Quidco.
*Tidied up overgrown window box. Cut some flowers to go in the vases.
*Work out how to spend the Argos voucher I got for a refund of damaged goods yesterday. You see I'm in a bit of a tight spot: My wonderful, loving, caring OH bought me a coffee maker for my birthday earlier in the year. It was lovely, it made great coffee...but I didn't really want a coffee maker and it takes up all of the space on the work surface in our tiny kitchen.
....Then, last week, it broke down. :rotfl: So my OH and I returned it to Argos and got vouchers back because they don't stock that coffee machine anymore and the ones they do stock are way more expensive than my original machine....
...So, I suggested to my OH that we buy a cheap coffee frother and a small caffetiere and I use the money to buy other gifts so it'll be like I'm having a second birthday. And my OH is ok with this....
....Only now I can't decide what to buy.

Anyway, I didn't want to be ungrateful so I used it lovingly and told myself I was very lucky to have such a nice machine when there are people out there who can barely afford instant Tesco Value coffee....

This is better than a coffee frother/caffetiere (if it's just for you) IMO

Amazing filtered coffee, quick, cheap and easy to clean.
Not really doing anything DFW-like today - going to a wine tasting day and then hanging around the city at the food festival that's on here. Good times xx
Will walk into town, put some pennies in the jar and not drink too much

Good morning!
Thanks for starting the thread off Ally, little mini coffee maker sounds lovely! The good thing about Argos vouchers is there is so much variety, you can get all sorts from there. Am having a lovely lazy morning and writing this from under the duvet after OH has brought me a cup of tea, bless him. Will get up in a moment and repay the favour.
Am having an expensive month this month, it's 17 days till payday and I've just found out I need to give £10 each to two leaving gifts, £20 to a friend's birthday, as well as leaving drinks, a birthday meal and a graduation dinner . Am going to have to think of some good reasons why I can't make the nights out (apart from my sister's graduation, there is no way I would miss that) and just be careful with the rest of what i spend.
So, onto today, we are off to go ape this afternoon (OH's work had discounted tickets we bought a few months ago) and then tonight out to a comedy gig and for a cheap pub meal with some friends. Hopefully won't be too expensive a night.
My list for today:
Check banking and update spreadsheet DONE
Look on the internet for cheap birthday present for friend with expensive taste
Email riding club about riding on Monday (pre paid)
Breakfast at home with free fruit left over from week at work
Drive steadily to go ape to conserve fuel
File some paperwork
Quite a short list for me today, must have been super-efficient this week

Thank-you.
Tidied the kitchen cupboards and found we actually already had a cafetiere and frother! Wonder what else I can find? Maybe there's a pot of gold under the sink...:p Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
