  • I always buy the Homebase stuff that is normally about £4.79 per square metre, but ends up about £4.19 when I buy it on 10% off days! I have it in hallway and living room (3 years old now) and OH also put it in his living room when he was still there on my advice and we have not had any probs with it yet. I will be buying more in the next couple of weeks to do a bedroom in....

I went to homebase and got some Rustic chestnut at 7.99 pm2 reduced from 10.99 I think. Then in addition they also have number of reduced packs because the packaging was open. The boards were OK. I got them to reduce other packs which were ripped too so got it all for about 6.70 pm2. Next weekend Jan 6th, I believe is 10% off too so further savings could be made and by buying with a cashback CC too.

    Happy New Year!

Thank you everyone, I was about to ask the same question, so your replies have come in handy!

The Ikea site says theirs is renewable raw material (wood fibres) - will this be wood chip? as opposed to mdf?

    Thanks! :)

Ours is bought and just preparing the room now!

We got one from Ikea. What we liked was - most laminate floors have 3 'stripes' per plank, but this is all one. It looks more natural, even tho it's obviously a laminate. The price is £13 something/sqm, but if you ask for a family card it drops to £10 something/sqm

    Did you lay it easily?

I Could not use my knees or fingers for 3 days.

And if you have the smallest bit of wood in the grooves it will not go together properly, will it.

But it looks great and has had 2 Bullmastiffs skidding on it without a scratch.

    Not too bad, dazco,

We've finished it now, and my leg muscles are really suffering. I'm used to sitting at a desk all day so knelling on the floor has killed me!!

It looks fantastic tho. We had lots of obstacles like chimney breast, alcoves, doorways, and it is a through room with doors in the middle, so there were loooooaaaaads of cuts to do.

Having done a good few laminate floors before, I'd say the ikea one was relatively easy to do.

  • Hi we were in ikea in warrington at the weekend. If you get an ikea family card its not a store card, you can get a 25% discount on most laminate flooring. We looked at the Tundra make it comes in 5 different colours once the discount is taken off it works out £3.98m2 which is a bargin it also has a 15 year guarantee. Its quite good quality too. we have decided on the antique stain it looks like real wood flooring.

Have you tried" Topps for tiles "? apparantely they have a large stock and are quite competitive price wise. It's worth a look!
