Texting/Calling a UK phone in Europe

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I have a friend based in Germany with the Army, they have a UK phone I am on Orange and get unlimited texts and 400minutes.

If we text each other would I get charged or are they taken out of my allowance and would my friend be charged?

I'm sure I remember texting a friend over there before and don't think I got charged but I'm not 100% x

Not sure about orange but if you was both on o2 you in the uk would not be charged and your friend would not be charged as it is free to receive texts when you are abroad.

If you was on o2 and your friend abroad was on Orange then you would be charged but your friend would still not be charged.

Hopefully someone with specific Orange knowledge will step in or you could phone Orange and check.

It doesn't matter what networks you are with.
For you texts and calls to your friend in Germany cost the same as to any UK mobile and come from your inclusive minutes/texts.

For the friend in Germany all incoming texts are free. For sending texts and making/receiving calls they pay roaming charges unless they have some special bundle.
