Royal Mail sorry you were out

Come on what is going on?
I was under the impression that you part with cash for a package to go from the sender to the recipent. Apparently not. I am now an unpaid employee of the post office because I have to collect my own parcels.
The reason is because I live in a block of apartments. Apparently this has been agreed with their regulators. 50 houses in an apartment is completely different from 50 houses in a street. So it is up to me to ring at my own cost and rearrange the delivery for a job that should have been done in the first place.
I was under the impression they were meant to at least attempt the delivery. We are in 95% of the time and use Amazon and ebay a lot.
I didnt realise I deserved to be penalised for being in an apartment.
Come on. Its a job. They get paid to do it. Could you imagine any other proffesion getting away with that.
"Oh Im sorry Miss Jones I couldnt perform your surgery because your bones might not be in the right place and it would take me a little effort. If you wouldnt mind slicing yourself open and and pushing your bones aside just so I know I can start the next bit."
"Oh Mrs Smith would you mind going over the years class work with your son. Sometimes the situation isnt perfect and I need to know your son is half way there before Ill even try to teach."
"Well those darn criminals. They just dont pop in my police van. bah So I wont bother catching them today. Have you any idea how much time I spend just waiting around. I posted them a note though. Sorry you were out. Could you just pop yourself in jail when your ready."
Any advice on what to do would be great. Royal hell we salute you.

Don't get me started on Royal Mail.
They dropped off a parcel for me last week and hid behind a bush as I was not in. They didn't leave a card to let me know this so days went by with me not noticing . When I did find the parcel, the contents (books) are damaged from rain.
I have contacted RM about this and they said that they will always try and leave in a safe place but would not comment on the fact that no card was left. Can I claim for this?0 -

the postie should attempt to deliver the item. the only exception to this is Where there is an obstacle making it impossible to gain access to the delivery point at the address. This may include locked gates or doors or entry phone systems that prevent access to the address or where there is no letterbox in place.cracker challenge silver: £610/£1010.00 :jOne debt vs 100 days: 1000.00/0.000

thats wrong and is not RMs official line
who told you that?the delivery office or RM CS
the official scenario is you never leave in a safe place unless it is an official safeplace instruction(a service offered by RM tracked) or an instruction fro the sender
however both of these can e deemed unsafe by the delivery person and over ruled in lieu of a P7390 -
I've been in the living room, heard something come through the letterbox, immediately went to see what it was and found the "Sorry you were out" card on the mat with absolutely no attempt made to ring the doorbell.
The postman always puts the card in my mother's letterbox to punish her for once complaining. He asked her to sign for something, she managed a squiggle and then he said she had to print her name. She explained she couldn't as she had a broken finger on her right hand. He said she had to and she said this was ridiculous as she couldn't - she had attempted a signature but printing was impossible. He snatched the parcel back from her and started filling in the "Sorry, you were out" card, saying " You will have to go to the Post Office in town, then", she explained she didn't drive and it is a long way etc involving two buses when she is in poor health and he said "Tough, and if you make a complaint I will say you were so abusive to me, I couldn't deliver the parcel." I've met him and found him pretty scary myself. I walked up the path as he was screaming at her that day! Unfortunately, I had to wait 24 hours until the parcel even arrived at the post office so I could pick it up for her.
I know all posties aren't like this, but there aren't many people that you may feel the need to make an official complaint about who know your exact address and often fairly personal details - it can be quite scary, especially for vulnerable members of the community.0 -

lol,quite a charmer
I used to deliver to a guy with no hands and a woman who had suffered a stroke
all I did was fill in their name and get them to make their mark on the card0 -
To be fair, I've had no problems with the posties around here, so whilst there are some complete idiots who don't seem to think its in their job description, some are actually rather nice people.0
