Can you rephrase your question please? I find it difficult to understand exactly what you're asking.

I know certain providers charge different amounts depending on which exchange you're on. i.e. someone on an exchange with lots of competition is charged a lower price than one with little competition. But I'm not sure if this is what you're asking.

Exactly, I saw the price on the website, then I was told that this was only a price for certain areas and that it would be £10 more. It doesn't say that though...does it?

You may find that the exchange type is different. The lower price is for their stuff in their piece of the local exchange.
If the Telco is using someone else's equipment then the price will potentially be higher.

Probaly says in the terms and conditions.

If you are living in non-Orange broadband network area you can still get the Promotion
    but:-
    (a) you will be charged an extra £10 a month; and
    (b) you will only be able to receive speeds of up to 8 meg

Go here: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search and check what ISP's are available as LLU providers.

If Orange aren't one of them, that'll explain the difference in price.

Bear in mind that Orange don't use their own LLU equipment anymore - they've gone back to effectively reselling BT connections.
