hi lost my phone and insurance are transmitting over funds, so i am looking to buy a iphone 3gs or iphone 4
Couple of questions :)

does my tmobile sim work in a orange locked phone? (someone said it does)

is the iphone 4 a different size sim?

and by buying a unlocked phone does that mean i cant upgrade the software through itunes?

thanks :)

The only point of locking is to prevent the handset working with other networks sim cards.

Yes, it is a micro sim, but you can cut a standard sim to the micro size.

    I don't think so.

A T mobile sim won't work in a locked Orange phone. While you can roam on each network from the other, there not the same (yet).

A iphoen 4 takes a micro sim, you can cut down a regular sim to fit or ask the network for a micro (but they may charge you more for an iPhone plan as ONLY iPhone's take them).

great thanks. I seen people on ebay selling iphone on orange but said tmobile works in it but was very wary. So i may go for the iphone 4 then if it's easy enough to cut sim card x

TMobile charge £10 for a micro sim and you can be on any tariff (I've got an Android phone tariff in my iPhone 4).

i just paid £10 for my normal sim as i lost my phone, i am sure cutting it will be fine.

What does it mean if its factory unlocked?

It means it's never been locked to any network.

I would have got it direct from Apple, that way the phone is factory unlocked and any sim card will work, which comes in hand if you travel abroad and want to use a local sim.

  • Hi Ironwright,

    Answers to your queries are:

T mobile sim witll not work with orange locked phone as that sim is ment to be used with one network only.

Yes, Iphone 4 has a micro sim, but you can cut a standard sim to the micro size.

I don't think if you can upgarde an unlocked iphone with itunes, although you can check with your service providers for this.

I will also suggest, if you can wait for few months as iphone 4s is going to be launched in the market, which is going to better then iphone 4.
