Canceled Car Insurnace Help!!

I was wondering if someone could help me. In Febuary I was in a serious car accident where a lorry had cut me up which caused me to go into the back of him as he didnt see me and this has established to be his fault and has addmitted it, The car insurance I am with is the co-opperative car insurance, Though the car is in my name on the log book my mum uses the car more than me as my dad is disabled and as im his carer we have a mobility car which I use when I care for him so there for my mum will use my car monday to friday, She was on the insurance first and I was second and as my mum is on the mobility insurance first for my dads car and as I second she has lost all her no no claims 5 years ago when she went on the mobility insurance as they pay for everything. Any way cause there is no discount it wouldnt matter if I was first on the insurnace or my mum was as we found after the accident when I brought a new car the insurance was the exact same price.
I want to know how and if I can despute the cancled insurance as the co-opperative have sent us a letter telling us they will not be paying out for my car as my name was on the log book and my mum was the first on the insurance so they have canceled the insurnace and said it was invalid from the date we took it out.
Is there any way we can despute this as we feel we wasnt trying to make out payments smaller as it would of been the exact same price if I was on the insurnace first and we feel we are not trying to fraud anyone in any way it was just a simple mistake as we didnt change the log book over. Help

Something doesn't quite add up... if the lorry driver admitted fault why has your insurer refused to pay for your car? It's his insurer that should be paying everything.
Anyway, when you took the insurance out, they sometimes ask if the V5 is in the name of the policyholder. Did you say it was and they have now discovered you lied?
If your mum was the main driver, and she genuinely used the car more than you did (as you claim), then you haven't really done too much wrong despite the V5 being in your name... check out the Insurance Ombudsman if your complaint to the insurer gets nowhere, you've got nothing to lose by trying.0 -
Thats the thing, we did it all online and amde sure everythign was correct, I had put down a claim i had made a few years ago from another car accidnet and when we went to put the claim in we found all my details where under my mums on there system but with the paperwork we had it was all correct.
We cannot understand if the price wasnt effected on who ever went first on the insurance surely it shouldnt of be a problem to pay out0 -
Yeah but the lorry drivers insurance should be paying out not yours.0

Who is the main driver on your dad's car insurance? Does your dad drive?0

My solicitor has only just proved it was him by the cctv as it had taken the police this long to give out the cctv and all whitness statments, as I was knocked out straight away I have no recolection of the accident on the m6.0

No as my dad is disabled my mum is the main driver on the mobility car ive only been caring for ym dad for the past year and this is the second mobility car he has had0

If the policy is in your mother's name but she is not the owner or registered keeper of the car, this should have been declared when the policy was taken out. Maybe the co-op are using that reason to invalidate the policy and therefore not pursue the claim on your behalf, even though it is the third party's insurance who will be paying.

Looks like the Coop think you are guilty of "Fronting"

Whilst it should not affect your claim, as it's the 3rd party insurers who you should be claiming off, surely your mum being Main driver on both your dad's car and on your car looks slightly odd on the basis that your dad does not drive. There are 2 cars in the house and only 2 drivers yet your mum is main driver on both. From what you've said, you should be main driver on your dad's car (5 days a week use) and not your mum. I guess that's why the Co-op have taken the action they have - one of the policies is wrong and they have assumed it's yours. To the Co-op it looks like your mum is fronting your insurance policy.
I would call them up and discuss the whole situation with them. I'd also investigate the outcome of having insurance cancelled as I believe it can have serious long term issues for you.0
