Thanks for explaining clearly.;)0 -
The fixes with NPower and EDF are looking better and better value .....if only the Companies weren't so s***ty to deal with!0

The thing is with people.... we jump ship QUICKLY before waiting to see what the other companies offer
nothing wrong with jumping quickly. When EDF raised ONS7 I jumped quickly but i jumped with my eyes open onto a fixed rate deal with them till september next year i thiink it is. this was only a matter of time. the rest will follow.0 -

Cant imagine them being around much longer though...Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!

If you're on a web tariff, how about entering artificially high meter readings shortly before prices go up, effectively buying your future requirements at pre-increase rates. Obviously these reading would have to be lower than any future readings taken by the companies themselves, but it might save a little.0

I suppose, but they still read meters in between and cant avoid that with the outside gas meters!Irreverent_Eames wrote: »If you're on a web tariff, how about entering artificially high meter readings shortly before prices go up, effectively buying your future requirements at pre-increase rates. When people finally realise that a forum thread wont change the world or better a situation and get together, get off their backsides and actually DO something about it, so in this country, NEVER is the likely and obvious answer to your question!. Which effectively is why we woke to the news today, and inevitably should expect further news of ongoing regular shaftings in the future. That way you'll never be disappointed.Absolutely disgraceful. When will it end?
Sadly people are far more interested in watching soap operas and following the fictitious lives of TV Characters than they are in dealing with everyday concerns which affect them, and its far more enjoyable to just whinge about it on a forum, from the comfort of your own living room, with a nice cup of coffee at arms length away, than it is to actually get up, go out and challenge something in real life, and raise the solidarity in order to do it. Of course when somebody does try and do something, they are faced with recruiting other soap opera bystanders and vocal no-er do nothings and so its all doomed from the start, which is why nobody bothers anymore. Just continue selling your soul to the Energy Companies so their CEO's can enjoy a nice round of golf in the sun whilst we are in our 9-5 sweat shops worrying about where our next £70 DD payment is coming from.
But you can see where the energy and utility companies get their encouragement from can't you?. Just read the other threads, where people have commented along the lines of "Oh, its only another £140 a year and its still cheaper than <insert gas company name> so i'm still better off". Well next time it will be £170, then £240 then £300, eventually IT WILL get to a point were it does affect 'you', but by then it will be too far gone to change.
If that sort of attitude isn't an open invitation and a big green light from the consumer to the company for future shaftings and fully embracing of the current regime of price hikes, I don't know what is!.

Spoke to BG just now as my mum is on the essentials tariff and these are the new prices for the E-T. Ex Vat
Electricity
1st Tier Pre Rise Price 14.496 - New Price 16.876 | 2nd Tier Pre Rise Price 9.415 - New Price 11.013
Gas
1st Tier Pre Rise Price 4.976 - New Price 5.891 - Next Pre Rise Price 2.897 - New Price 3.430
Also said something about Essentials Tariff is being rejigged and it amounts to going onto the Standard Tariff but you will get a lump sum credited to your Electricity Account. No mention on what the credit would be but, did say it would be more than £100.0
