  • Dyson moved production abroad as a last resort.

James Dyson was gutted to make the announcement - but there was no way he could continue production in the UK.

On a positive note - all R&D is done in the UK.

    British companies deserve our support.

most definitely, but I really do hate it when manufacturing jobs / call centre jobs are off shored for any reasons, but especially cost cutting reasons.

I will probably buy another Dyson, but will buy as British as I can come the time. If there is an alternative at the time I replace especially one who manufactures etc in the UK then I will buy that.

I wouldn't be surprised if they shifted the production out of Malaysia to China / Vietnam etc where production costs are even lower.

We got our top of the range Dyson ball thingy from Argos recently for £180, which is about half price, and it's much better than our previous DC08, which was about the same price. Don't know if the offer is still on....
