Any recommendations for a new Vacuum???

Options

I am wanting to get a new Vacuum Cleaner, upright, and bagless. My old Dyson is still going although it looks like it has been living in a war zone, bless him, he looks tatty and his wheel keeps dropping off, and now the flex is dicky, so I thought, hmm, january sales, good time to invest in a new hunky model with some strong suction to sort out my messy house.

I do like an upright, and it would have to be bagless, and i want one with some strong suction to get rid of the cat hairs, so if anyone has any recommendations that would be fantastic. :j

we have a bissell lift off and its fab
    i wouldnt be without it
we have 2 persian cats and their fur drops and sticks to carpet like cotton wool and the bissell has no trouble in picking it up.
we had a dyson before and it wasnt very good at picking the fur up but the bissell has a wonderful fully adjustable brush bar that goes on carpet to hard floors with no trouble.
i also love the lift off bit for the stairs and ceilings.

what model number is yours, and is it very powerful? Some seem to be less powerful motors but with more suction, so I am confused,....I am very confused, but I do know what you mean with the cat fur, our old cocker spaniel had this very fine hair that shed like cotton wool, and most vacs are useless at picking it up.

  • Better the devil you know....than the one you don't.

Dyson is the only vacuum cleaner that doesn't lose suction.

I've had a couple of them and the pickup is good. ( I have 2 cats ) I wouldn't swap it for anything.

There are a number of posts on this forum for Dyson ravers and ranters.

  • I love Dysons and believe they have quite a few models out. The customer service is good and have a long guarantee which is worth a lot.

I know it's a cylinder and it has a bag, but the Miele Cat and Dog TT500 is fantastic for pet hairs.

I've got 2 long haired collies and it deals with their hairs brilliantly. It doesn't lose suction, and the suction is so strong, you sometimes feel like it's sucking the pattern off the carpets :D

Highly recommended for anyone with pets. I wouldn't be without mine.

Also a Dyson fan, but I do hate companies who move production abroad, so I will look at alternatives come replacement time.

This is a good point but to be fair I think Dyson was having planning permission problems and therefore took the decision to move overseas. However I am not sure on the full circumstances been a few years now.

Fair enough but at least they are Brit owned and the customer service / after sales seems pretty good and based in Malmesbury. Where do Meile & Bissel come from France, Lithuania ??

I've just had a right warranty run in with the "take it or leave it pal" French owned and manufactured Tefal so they are off my list for the forseeable
