Price of picture frame glass cutting?

I bought two picture frames from the charity shop to put up in the living room. Tonight i settled in to get the photos framed and mounted. It started raining, so DH jumped up to close the windows and in so doing stood on the glass of one frame.
The actual frames only cost me £3 each, but DH insists that it will be pretty cheap to get a 16" x 16" piece of glass cut for a replacement.
I've tried googling and as usual all i get are endless websites of which none give me that answer i need without having to submit my details for a quote. I just want a fast answer! lol!
Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost to get a 16 inch by 16 inch piece of glass cut for the frame?
Thanks!!

It shouldn't be too expensive. Just give a small local firm a call. I had a similar problem at christmas - broke a 6"x4" pane from an expensive mirror. Our local glazing firm cut us a piece of glass to size, and gave us a spare one - all for the grand total of 75p.Shrinking my mortgage!

I agree with the above.
If you saw how quickly and easily these guys can cut glass they look embarrassed to charge anything.
I'm always happy do drop them a few quid though because if it was really as easy as it looks I'd do it myself. You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -
Thanks! I'll check out some local folks!Sarah.

I can never figure why people seem to think that the internet is the place to go for glass, weird. There are still many local glass and mirror companies who will do this quickly and cheaply.I can afford anything that I want.

It's not that i would necessarily buy it from the internet, but since all i wanted (initially) was to find out a cost, i checked the source i had immediately at hand - google! Once i discovered whether it would be £2 or £200 i could then decide on where to buy it from (or not).
Obviously i'm not going to try to get glass posted. It doesn't take brains to figure out that paying courier prices for delivery would amount to quite a bit.
I just hoped that some of the bigger glass firms might have a "quick quote" facility on their website in order for me to get a ballpark figure. Alas, they don't. At least the ones i checked before getting bored didn't anyway.
Most people i know check the internet for ANYTHING first. I don't even keep a yellow pages anymore, it goes straight in the recycling when it arrives. It just wouldn't occur to me to start phoning round companies. Maybe that's wrong, but it's modern thinking i guess.Sarah.
