Looking for a good phone deal.

I'm with Orange at the moment and it's about time to renew.

At the moment, the best they're offering 1200 minutes, unlimited texts and 500gb internet with just about any phone I want except an iphone for 330 per month.

I do need lots of talk time and unlimited texts is useful.

Now I'm not too bothered about the phone (I want a tough, easy to use one) and I've never bothered with mobile internet (although it may be useful to have access to emails). The chap on the line suggested either a Samsung Solid Immense, a Nokia C301 or a Motorola Defy - I've heard good and bad about all three, but have had phones from all three manufacturers without much drama.

The question is, am I going to be able to get them to improve on this?

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Told you I was a clod - should read £30 :D

I think I'm pretty much stuck with Orange as I don't think my mucky credit record will allow me to go anywhere else.

Well, if you aren't bothered about the phone, for £25 you can get sim-only deal without a long contract (so no problems with credit scoring):
    2000+5000+unltd - at '3'
    1500+unltd+unltd - at giffgaff (o2).

A very decent android phone can be bought for about £100.
