I have now given up trying to phone them as I realise that I have wasted 4 hours in the last month on-hold.

The bill issue is still not sorted despite months of asking they can't seem to get it accurate based on the meter reading I have supplied about 5 times.

The last time I sent them an e-mail message as I am one of the lucky ones who got an online account. I got a reply but bill still not right based on what they did. I sent another message - they get back to you in around 2 weeks.

I can only add to this thread by sharing my frustration. I tried to switch my mum to EDF's Fixed Tariff 2014, but since we decided to do this I have spent so many hours on the phone trying to get through to customer services it is shocking.
We confirmed many email verification requests, have communicated the electricity meter reading (when I actually got through, very exceptional) and while trying to submit a meter reading for gas (online doesn't work) over the phone, we received a letter saying that EDF is not proceeding with our contract, because they have not been able to contact us to confirm some details relating to the registration of our contract.
This must be a joke, right!? They were not able to contact us? Guess we were on the phone waiting to speak to someone at EDF!!!

Without exaggeration, this is my worst customer experience in a decade!

I have been on-hold for an hour again (still am while I am writing this)

I've had the same trouble and wsh I hadn't moved. I hope I get the chance to be knocked back. I'm under a lot of stress and don't need this hassle at the moment. Some things are more important than money. EDF stink
    It's great to be ALIVE!
  • Just switched...and realising what an absolutely shocking, shocking service this company gives!! They've asked for my meter readings ...can only give the electric one...the gas option does not appear. Have sent 2 emails ...or tried to ask a question but both emails failed. I have now been on the phone for an hour waiting...and nothing! How do companies like this get away with it? This country is absolutely going to the dogs and how!!!

Yup. I had exactly the same thing. They asked (about a week ago) for an Electric meter reading which I gave them (I tried to give the gas at the same time but could not enter it). Today I check my account and its now asking for Gas so I put that in but it won't let me continue unless I also put the Electric in. So I put the same date and value in as last time and click to continue. It then tells me I have already given my meter readings.

    What a sham !
  • Long time reader of this site, first time poster. I'm so fed up with EDF that I registered on here just so I could have a rant.

Switched to EDF in January 2011. Enticed by good rates and the promise of a £100 welcome bonus.

Electricity account migrated nicely and easily in February. Final gas bill from Scottish Power arrived in March. Since then I haven't had a gas account set up by EDF.

The long and the short of it is that I have been using gas since March but have no way of paying for it. I can't set up a direct debit, I can't provide them with meter readings, I can't make a payment using a debit card.

Someday soon they will sort out their "IT problem" and I will get hit with a bill for in excess of £500, I can feel it.

I've emailed them and there's nothing they can do. NOTHING THEY CAN DO?!?!?!? I want to pay for my gas usage but they won't let me.

Now they've just decided to ignore my emails. Promises of a reply within 10 days come to nothing. Absolutely useless bunch of grrrrr!!

And to add insult to injury, I won't get my £100 welcome bonus because the offer has expired and they can't apply it to my (non-existent) account retrospectively.

    Yet another indictment of EDF.

I think you will have had £75 of the welcome bonus via the electricty account, so you are currently £25 light.

If it were me,I would be switching supply very quickly to stop any build up of charges at post price rise on OS7.It may also force out the current process block.

You have tried to contact EDF and have evidence. If they ever get around to billing you properly they may fall foul of the rules for backbilling. It depends when they sort it out.

You may get the secret agent contacting you, so you will have to decide to let them sort it out or not.

    Hope this helps.:)

Yes EDf have a hidden presence on the Forum. They try and pick up and help if they spot something.

They aren't brave enough to face up to the music officially by having a bona fide rep like the other Suppliers do.
  • Ah I see.. Well I welcome any contact from them that doesn't consist of a virtual shoulder-shrug.
