Depends on what product you want. The charge cards are more difficult to get as you need to have the means to settle the whole balance in full, however I assume that they have different credit scoring criteria for credit cards.0

Well - I got accepted and I'm young with no bad history. But that tells you nothing because only people inside American Express will be able to tell you how their credit scoring works.ive applied for the american express platinum cashback card
Why not just wait and see?
It never ceases to amaze me how many people make posts like this *once* they've applied! I could understand it before (even if the answer is "no one really knows" for every single one) - but why after an application??

it doesnt matter what you credit score is really, they read peoples credit files to assess if they are going to make money out of you. Some companies purposly look for people who dont pay their balance so they can make money on them on the interest. Obviously this would make the profile of the person who pays their full balance each month out of the companies own profiles so they would probably get declined. So its totally dependant on what profile AE look for on that particular card.0

Do you earn a minimum of £20,000 per annum? Thats one of the requirements for the Platinum credit card0
-
no.but it says total household income, that being the case its around £100k
my credit is good never missed any payments at all.0 -
On the website it says:In order to qualify for the Platinum Credit Card, you must make sure that you:
* Are aged 18 and over and have a current UK bank or building society account
* Have a regular income of over £20,000
* Have a permanent UK home address
* Have no history of bad debt
* If self-employed, have been working for over one year
From what you say you don't earn £20k. I'd be surprised if you do get the card on that basis. Let us know if you do get it0 -
im sure when i read it,it says household income.id have to check,i wouldnt have applied otherwise and wasted an application.i dont think ill get the card, but if i do,then ill be made up,im bending the rules i think,as im sure when it states household income it means u and your partner, but i aint got one,i live with my parents, but there both own their own businesses and earning over 100k pa,so ill just play dumb and say i thought this my household income!!!!anyway id like to get one over on these agencies.ive been rejected for a few things in the past im 21 not much debt had loan overdraft and direct debits for over 3 years never missed any payments ever, never late.i have a credit score of just over 900,it gave my house a 5 star credit rating.i can only hope,i will defo keep u up to date mate.merry xmas0

I have had my Platinum cashback card for 3 years now and I have made about £320 cash in that period from the cashback. I always pay the bill on time. The only way Amex is making money from me is through the retailer commission.0
