House near a train line

I would buy a house near a train line. I lived very close to a main line for a couple of years when I was about 9 years old and you do get used to the noise. Despite it being all those years ago, I actually miss it ?!
I didn't use to like going under the tunnel though when a train was going over. :eek:
If the house is near a train station then that can only be a plus point when you sell and if you have plenty of garage / drive space then is there the option to rent your space to commuters ?0 -
What you may think of, not so much noise, but the polution from trains brakes. This is EXTREEEMLY unpleasent, as anyone that parks in a station car park may well discover.
It will 'eat' into your vehicles paintwork & get in through your windows & is not nice stuff!
But I'd not worry about the location, if this was overcome!
