There are going to be lots of offers and 'bargains' as we get closer to the release of Vista, as manufacturers are dumping machines that won't be able to run it. This particularly applies to laptops as they tend to be less powerful anyway.0

'A bit' = £300?0 -
As said before - steer well clear of their Via CPU laptops. No good if you want to do more than word proccess.0

For me Vista doesn't matter as XP does what I want it to do so why do I need to upgrade to a bloated operating system that even my 2 year old Dell desktop doesn't meet the minimum spec for?
My brother and parents are running 1Ghz P3's for web surfing, email, document writing and photo editing and it copes fine! What I would say is make sure you upgrade the RAM to at least 512MB for XP.

I agree with others ...your getting exactly what your paying , as with most things .
the biggest improvement , and the cheapest would be to double the RAM to 512MB. ( assuming it hasnt got 2 x 128mb sticks in it)
The performance boost will be really noticable.
Checkout https://www.crucial.com/uk and they have a step by step process of ensuring you get the correct RAM ( called the memory advisor tool)Its guaranteed for life with a 28day no quibble refund if your not happy. ( 7% quidco and a 4% off with a code ...although im unsure if you can use both)0 -
