1. no tax does not invalidate your insurance if it did we wouldnt be able to obtain tax with a valid policy inforce would we!
2.check online about "laid up insurance" this has no thirdparty risks and has fire and theft only, you cannot drive the vehicle on a public highway with this policy because the minimum risk isnt there to cover you i.e third party cover, you cant tax a car with this policy, but doesnt mean that this policy is void because of no tax!!. (goes for all).
2. IN10 is a conviction for driving without third party risks, the penalty brought by this is either points and or a ban and a hefty fine + costs. this is normally when your caught with no insurance on a public highway, or do not have the correct level of insurance fo wich your carrying out going to and from work (commuting), buisiness use and the type of class of that use.
THE NEW RULES DOES NOT RENDER YOUR INSURANCE VOID IF YOUR NOT TAXED.
your vehicle cannot be siezed by police or Department for transport, for just no tax, its a non endorsable £60.00 penalty, your details will be forwarded to the DVLA, who will then send someone to clamp you, you will then pay further penalty fee's for release failure to do so and DVLA will SEIZE your vehicle and impound it incurring you more fee's failure to comply will reslut in your vehicle being crushed and you tacken to court for non payment of fines and back dated VED (vehicle excise duty).
the new rules requires you to surrender the car tax if you dont intend on insuring the vehicle and keep it on private premises.0 -
A car that isn't taxed isn't legal to drive on the road. So although it may be insured against theft whilst stored in a garage, the second you drive it on the road the insurance won't be valid.
Also isn't it the case that the car actually has to be insured before someone else can drive it under their own insurance?
Sorry but you are talking rubbish, driving on the road without tax is the only crime commited, your insurance will not be invalidated at all.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -

According to the dvla, driving to a pre booked mot and back again is allowed. Your insurance for road risk would still cover you ok. If your car failed on faulty brakes and you drove home and crashed then who knows!"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

but according to dross you'd have no insurance cover for use on the highway without tax.0 -
Your insurance policy will have small print saying if your car isnt legal for the road then they wouldnt cover you blah blah blah.
According to the dvla, if its a pre booked mot the you will be ok driving to and from the garage, assuming your car is roadworthy."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -

You don't have insurance cover to drive a vehicle on the road illegally. If you are driving to a pre booked MOT, then you aren't driving illegally.
Do I really have to spell it out in detail?
And if you read my original post I said without tax to which you said would void your insurance.;)0
