On the probiotic note: I am under St Marks, one of the top gastro-enterology hospitals. (I had colitis for 25 years before my colectomy.) They have looked into probiotics extensively, and whilst they say eat yoghurt if you like it, good for calcium etc (many people however have problems digesting the lactose) they told me you as may as well chuck the yoghurt down the toilet for all the good it will do any bowel disease. The only probiotics that have any demonstrable affect are the mega strength ones, like VSL 3-very very expensive (£58 for 3 sachets ), but available on prescription for limited numbers of patients.
I now get the loperamide tablets instead of capsules and have found them to be much more effective, not sure if you can buy those here although you probably could get them from the states.
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

Not for those of us who pay for their prescriptions! I could buy considerably more for £7.20 or whatever the current prescription charge is than my GP would ever prescribe on one script.

    Exactly!
I pay for my prescriptions, what's the point of paying so much when I can buy what I need - fully GP approved, amounts used etc etc - for much less?

Honestly Louise03 your posts are coming over as so flippng condescending...I'm sure you don't intend them to, but they are.

I haven't heard of those at all. I'm going to the US in January so I'll have a look for these. Thanks for the tip.
