Not strictly what everybody wants, I think maybe you should rephrase to "It's what I wanted."
You only speak for home owners, you'd probably find that first time buyers for example would quite welcome further price drops.
He doesnt speak for all home owners. I am a home owner and prices rocketing away doesnt help me because
 a) I only own one property, my next move will be upsizing and the further apart the rungs on the ladder get the harder that is.
 b) I would like younger members of my family to at least have some hope of not having to spend the rest of their lives living one 6 month AST to the next.
The older members of my family would be in full agreement though. The inlaws are currently in a blue tizz as their house has "only" been valued at 6 times what they paid for it 25 years ago.0

Why don't you bring them to the website and one of the posters will no doubt try to persuade them that in "real" terms its actually worth less now than it was 25 years ago?0

I'm a multiple homeowner with no children.
And I love HPI more than a fat kid loves cake. “The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. “The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Great line! I prefer yield to capital gain personally as there's less risk: you get it in your pocket.
In that light I am toying with the idea of holiday lets. You can let a $300k flat with perhaps $20k of renovations will let for $180 a day peak and $140 a day off peak. Assuming 60% occupancy that's a gross yield of 18%!0
