Royal Mail dont bring items up to the Post Office unless the customer requests it as there is a £1.50 fee for this service, it is called Local Collect.

Although I have never heard of the 'Local Collect for eBayers' part of the info in the link!Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150 -
The other issue is what my position is if the items don't turn up. All the items cost under £100 and I paid by American Express. Royal Mail had attempted at least the initial delivery but I have never received the items. Is Amazon responsible for the safe delivery of these items to me (even if the fault is with Royal Mail rather than them)? Has anyone got any experience of how co-operative they are in these matters? One of the purchases was from amazon, one from indigostarfish and one was sold from another company but was listed on the main page for that item (ie I didn't click through to the marketplace). Will this make any difference?
You have paid Amazon to supply and deliver some items. In turn, Amazon have paid Royal Mail to do the delivery part of that process.
Your contract is with Amazon, and you need to raise it with them.0 -

We had problems with notes being posted to us, saying they had tried to deliver something and we weren't in! Posted to us fgs.
I made an email compliant, we also had problems with some packages not being delivered at the same time and it took ages to work out where they are, had to go through the company I bought off sending me tracking details to realise it had got stuck somewhere.
The complaint bought a sorry and then 2 more posted non delivery notes in the next week.
I can't remember if I send a annoyed email or rang them up to complain then, but I received a "sort of" grovelling reply, although not really admitting it could have been them and we've not had another problem. That was a couple of years ago.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
to clarify, the reason why posties take packets to the Post Office upon completion of their shift is because they are not allowed to take the packets home - to then return to the delivery office the following day.
Posties do not have to return to their office upon completion of their round.0 -

Gazebo, must be different in my town as the posties never bring undelivered mail up to us! Although the delivery office is only a 5 min drive from the PO...strange!
And thanks for the info custardy, interesting!Slimming World Member - Started 05/02/150 -

its variers depending on the local set up
some posties return to the DO
some 'pouch off' via the PO
some are set up so the items go to the PO and are collected from the PO
some leave their items in pouch boxes for collection the next day0 -
yup, it does vary - I was just giving the example of what happens here - and I'm not talking a rural place either, more the other city folk know in Scotland, that isn't quite the capital0

I have not stated that on this occasion, the postie did or did not attempt to make himself known, nor have I said that the op was at fault.
Welcome to my block list
As I clearly said, I was not saying anything towards you. It cannot be said that the posties on here do not back up their employers to the hilt which is very odd. Adding me to your "block list" kind of sums up my point.Weird reply. You clearly were desperate to misinterpret the response, and in that you succeeded. Well done.
And before you make more idiotic statements, I don't and never have worked for the PO or RM and only opened this post as I had a similar experience to the OP in that they have this weekend mislaid post for me that should have gone back to the sorting office.
Again, read what I posted, I havent misinterpreted anything as I never said anything towards gazebo. I have had nothing but trouble with RM and find them useless. Sorry for stating my opinion.0 -
I always have trouble with the Royal Mail. I find that the postman usually waits until the next day to post a "Sorry You Were Out" card, which is annoying! I always find them slipping it through and running away. And I'm also certain they sometimes put a different date and time on it. So it looks like they attempted to deliver, except that I was in the whole day and made sure I listened out for him and I KNOW they didn't attempt delivery. He rarely knocks in the first place. Frustrating.
I've moved twice in the past 2 years and still have the same problem!!!0
