We've a small Boots next to the Surgery and have a repeat prescription service with them. They're very good......I phone up and they always have it ready for me to collect. Saves going through the Surgery every time I need it.
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • I'm trying this at the moment. I placed my order on the 18th but my order status hasn't changed from "we have received your order" and I'm due to collect it on the 2nd of December. Should it have changed to something else by now?
I've had an order acknowledgement email but it also says I should receive an order confirmation email later which I haven't done.
I've emailed them this morning to ask what's happening with it.

My local Boots have since replaced the person responsible for looking after the scheme and admitted she wasn't doing the job properly. I'm still not going to give it another go, I'm lucky however, the surgery is 100yds away and the Boots another 300yds.

I have nothing but good stuff to say about boots repeat prescription service. I was offered it in store one day and now all I do is pop in every 2 months, pick up a bag of medicine and trot out again. I can't fault it!

I started using my local boots service-as they are actually in the same building as the gp (health centre) and thought it would save me keep going in to hand over prescription then going back to collect days later (now being heavily pregnant and can't walk too far without being in pain).

The first two months were fine-everything was ready in time. Then the third month-it all went wrong. They didn't have my meds ready-and seemed to think i wasn't due to have anymore for another two weeks. I told them that i always have my meds every 4 weeks-i cant have anymore at one time as i am being consultant lead at hospital and they are funny about letting me go too long. I also can't just not take my meds either. So a lot of hassle trying to get me two days worth of 'emergency' tablets for over the weekend, i then had to go back on the monday where they then told me they still didn't hand my repeat in so nothing was ready. It took a long wait to finally get my bp meds-i had to miss other tablets (luckily the iron tablets didn't matter much and the other i had to ask my consultant for at my next review). My collection date is now wrong-and keep having problems when i go in.

Once i've had this baby-i'll just go to see the gp and take my repeats in myself as it seems a lot easier.

I drop the repeat form in at my doctors and then pick the meds up in Boots (live to close to use the GP pharmacy) last week I handed the script in the week before and they still weren't ready 7 days later, had to wait for it all to be checked and bagged as if I was too early picking up. Bit of a pain but the staff are friendly so I put up with it.

I don't have any experience to post of Boots service, but I can tell you about the service we get from Lloyds as it'll give you an idea of what else is available ...

Both Marley & littl'un have repeat prescriptions, falling on different days of the month. Lloyds have the dates & items listed on their computer. Every month without fail they telephone us a week before each prescription runs out to check what items we want repeating; they organise the prescription with the GP and collect it; they then fulfill the order(s) and deliver the items out to our house. They also always ask how littl'un is doing ;) I am really impressed with this level of service :)

And this just shows you how service can go downhill ... I wrote the above in the summer last year.

For the second month in succession, Lloyds have completely messed up Andrew's repeat prescription. In December it was due on a Friday, I managed to arrange for it to be delivered from a different branch on the Saturday. I made a point of visiting the branch over the festive season to seek reassurance that it wouldn't happen again. This month, Friday came and went ... Saturday came and went ... Today I phoned to chase it, even spoke to Lloyds head office because of the situation. We were promised the scrip delivered by 5:30 before Andrew went to bed. It's now 7pm and still nothing ...

Really disappointed with Boots Collection Prescription Service.

Went to collect husbands prescription from Boots which he has collected from his surgery. Had a little card given to me when I signed up to let me know when to collect. Went to the Manchester store at approx 1.10 pm today and had to queue for approx 15 mins as there was about 10 people in front of me. When it was my turn the lady went away and started looking in the drawers but could not find the bag with my husbands name on - carried on looking but then gave up after about 5 minutes and gave it to someone else to look for. She then looked through all the drawers and then someone told her to open some of the bags and look inside to see if wrong medication was in them. I was very concerned at this stage. She then said to me that she couldn't find it and would have to dispense it again and could I wait 5 to 10 minutes. By this time I had been there about 1/2 hour and was not impressed - she said she would be as quick as she could and went off to come back a couple of minutes later to say that she had found it in another collection area at the back - has anyone else had any bad experiences with the collection service I think it is very worrying that she was looking in the bags to see if my husbands medication was in somebody else's bag!

Was that the Cross St/Arndale branch? a 20/30 minute wait is par for the course there, even if you leave the scrip days previously.

First time I used it the prescription wasn't there. They said it was the surgeries fault for not sending. Week long wait after to get it. Since then it's been alright, but I don't have much faith in them.
