yes you can get a pac code from 02 to go to orange as my son done it last year they dont charge(well they didnt then!) i also asked if they charge it still to 02 or would it be orange charges and they said once you go to another network you take on their charges.... mind you half of them dont know what is the right or wrong answer ha ha

it used to be that some networks would still see your number as being on the original network, i.e. someone calling you from O2 would see you as an O2 number still not an Orange number, not sure i fthats still the case though

ok, thanks, its just i have an easy number now and kids know it.. so wanted to keep it. guess ill stay with 02 online, i get 500 free text and 100 min x net for £25 pm.

wonder if it will be better to cancel and get new contract and better deal or just upgrade.

    thanks loops

The answer is that if you move your number from o2 to Orange, then o2 will charge you the cross network rate and Orange will regard you as on their network. T Mobile and Vodafone would regard the number as being an o2 number and would charge cross network rates anyway.

BT and other landline providers have differing rates for making calls to each of the mobile networks. They would, for charging purposes, regard you as being still on o2.

If you get your pac code and swap to a different network, the network you change too is the soul provider for that number. There is no cross network charges at all for an o2 number (having been transfered from orange)to another o2 number.I too had 2 numbers that are easily remembered etc and swapped them from orange to o2 for the free texts etc.

O2 inform orange they are going to port the number to their network and they both agree a date.(With mine there was a mix up so orange had closed my access with them but o2 had not started access with them on the same day) so i was left with 2 sims on orange and 2 on o2 but none reconised my numbers. All people got when they tried to ring any of my numbers was that the numbers were not reconised etc.The Monday after the Friday o2 were supposed to start my access they sorted it out and my numbers were transfered to my new o2 sims.now if i ring an orange number it is x network but if i ring a landline or another o2 number it is NOT x-network :)

if you have had this contract for more than 12 months,if you ring o2 up saying you wish to cancel this contract. They will ask you why. Then say to them you have been offered (what ever phone you want)+ a new contract that offers the o2-200 (which is 200 mins and 200 texts) for 12 months half price line rental from e2 which works out to £15.00 with double minutes and texts for 3 months. They should offer you the same deal but they only take the £15.00 per month not as a cash back as e2 save do it :)

    izzy,

I have tried this with both orange and O2. Both state that they will not match online offers such as this (half price rental etc)
I am calling as a new customer (currently with T-mobile). I suppose they may be more likely to help if you are already a customer?
