I hate to bear witness to your humiliating attempts to convince not only your website members but I also suspect yourself, that your decision to continue to support this newspaper has its basis in anything other than greed.:(
I have a lot to thank you for in the advice that I have received from this forum and its members....but it makes me feel extremely angry that I have associated myself with, and directed friends and family towards someone who can justify maintaining a partnership with such a dreadfully immoral organisation.
Please leave whilst you still have the opportunity to maintain some credibility.0 -
I wonder how long it will be before a 'Martin Lewis supports the NOTW' Facebook page appears.0
-
Looks like Martin will be the only one there anyway! Many others (sponsors) have pulled out now!
I just wanted to add to my previous post in this thread that as a forces wife, I think that it does sadden me that you are staying with them. I can predict the conversations now...
'Mse wannabe convert': "Oh I picked up this fabulous money saving tip for us BFPO shoppers the other day.."
'Friend': "Where did you find that out?"
'Mse wannabe convert': "On that fantastic money saving site run by that money saving guy from the telly...Martin Lewis"
'Friend': "No thanks, keep your tip. Don't that guy work for the news of the world? They were listening to dead soldiers families phonecalls!"
Okay so I won't win any literacy awards...but you get the idea
This may seem silly to say but as a nation we are very protective and respectful of our dead. Especially those that have died at another's hands be them a murder victim or a soldier killed in action. You are now associated with a newspaper that disregarded that.
Christina Sch(mid) <have to type her name like that as the site was blocking her last name!> has just stated the Met police are setting up a crisis line for widows of fallen soldiers regarding these hacking claims. Even though she is using her interview to mainly talk about how badly the MOD have treated her ( she does not speak for all forces families!).
But a crisis line?! Are you sure you're ok with your choice Martin?!Save 8k in 2013: Member #100

Martin, you went down it my estimations when i found out today that you actually write a column for that rag.
Imagine how further you have fallen after i finished reading your nonsense blog which tries to justify staying with them.
Go and look at the Dowler family coming out of court last week, go and look at the picture of those two poor girls from Soham, go and look at what happened on 7/7, go and look at the families who have lost a son or a daughter or a husband or wife to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Look at them all and weigh it up against your grubby little payslip with Mr Murdoch's signature at the bottom. Then please come back to us all and justify it again.Weekend Break for 4 to Falkirk,Jamie Oliver Cookbook,£30 of Glasgow Market Vouchers, Overnight stay in Livingston + £100 gift card, £50 Mastercard0 -
2002 in the past, from what I understand today, it is possible that recent phone messages etc have been hacked from the families of the soliders killed on tour duty in Afgan. An absolute disgrace if true.
Martin, I would suggest you 'suspend' your self for the mean time from the NOTW, till actual FACTS are known.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Lets face facts, most of this has been about collecting accolades and working towards an achievment where he can show his grandchildren 'look at what i created'
Its not called Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert for nothing.
He has moved on from here now to try and change the way children are taught about finance.
It seems he has tried to copy Jamie Olivers initiative, only for finance instead of cooking.
As i said before, what he has created has been great and im not trying to take anything away from that but if his goal at the start was for recognition and helping others, then he has slipped and taken the path for riches instead. You dont really believe hes not taking a pay rise to stick around?
I think Martin really believed he was too big (to fail?) and his loyal followers would stick by him whatever he did. Im just glad we can all put our arm around him and say 'You have been right for so many years, but on this occation your not, but were still here to help YOU this time'.0 -
If Martin is reading this thread -- and hopefully, he is -- then could he please consider the following (written from my perspective as one with many, many more years experience of daily and Sunday tabloids than Martin can ever have):
.
Pretty much agree with all of this - excellent post in fact Hern, thank you.
Martin you are commiting career suicide here and wrecking the work of a lifetime - please reconsider this decision.0 -

Superbly written and composed post. You should PM it to Martin Lewis, just on the off chance he wasn't!:T:TI agree that perception is in most peoples minds at the moment. But let's not forget that Martin has not been part of the alleged phone hacking and as far as I am aware does not condone it. Let us judge him on the numerous people he has helped.
I did suggest elsewhere that the ultimate irony would be if it turned out that Martin Lewis had had his phone hacked before his involvement with NOTW. He was extremely high-profile and controversial during the bank charges saga.
How much of a climbdown would we see then?;)0 -
Do you seriously wish to risk everything you've achieved by waking up one morning in the not-too-distant future to the revelation of how "surprised" The News of The World is to now suddenly "discover" that the kind of behaviour that it claimed happened in a conveniently unspecified past has actually continued on into this specific present??
It's not a risk you should be taking.
