So yesterday 22nd was payday, i have been working loads of overtime like 6 days a week aswell as college so that i could get my presents today (1st day off in 2 weeks!). As i am very disorganised i have no presents upto yesterday but my wages of £508.13 should be well enough to cover the presents i need.
So picture this, I go to the bank ask for my balance with the aim of withdrawing £400 for bills and pressies, the cashier hands me a slip with balance : 0.79p. By now i am in a state of shock! Phone work (Asda!) and ask them why i have not been paid and i am crying now in the middle of town! They have keyed the last digit of my sort code in wrong.
So what now?, i am told i have to wait until 29th december when the money returns to asda account, then they will send a cheque which i will recieve in new year, then pay into account to wait 5 working days so around the middle towards the end of january!!! Imagine my horror!
I go into work and they say there is nothing that they can do and i will just have to lend money off someone! (who has money 3 days before xmas?)
Now i have lent £100 off my sister but thats nower near enough to pay my bills never mind get presents! Imagine if i had a family or a mortgage id be buggard!!!
So what can i do? please help in desperate needs and its my bros 25th 2 days after xmas and a day out was planned!!! xx

That really sucks!!
Is there no way you can get anything from work, as it is their fault. Surely they have petty cash in the building somewhere.

That's terrible? Is it the payroll people who have been telling you this? Try speaking to the manager where you work. And also try calling back the people who brushed you off and demanding to speak to the manager there - get everyone's names.
This is why I have not been going to Asda for the last few months - such horrible stories about the way they treat their staff, who wants to be sucked into that, ewww.
Hope it works out for you.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MoneySavingExpert Forum Team0 -
Ye, there is only 2 people in the personnel department and it was their manager who said nothing could be done. My manager was not happy but if they said nothin could be done then nothin could! They normally give store loans or request loans to staff who say have been taxed too much etc but will give nothin 2 me! To make things worse my phone has now been cut off!!! aaaggghhh x0

I would go and see your manager in work. They have enough money in the store to cover your wages. As its their mistake they should rectify it.
Hope it all works out.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Ye many people have told me to do that! I am tempted but i need the money (haha if i get it!) I am in 2moro 10am-1pm, but i dont know if anyone from that department is in! I think i am going to go in and stand firm as they already walk all over me! x0

I would go in, and ask for some money, if they still refuse, then refuse to do your shift since you haven't been paid for your previous work done, so how can you be sure they'll pay you for this one. Or something along those lines.

Yes i think i will they will need me xmas eve but i dont need them! hahaha Shall i ask for all of the money or just accept some of it? After all they did admit it was their fault! x0

That's up to you really, I'd go for the lot!!!
Bah!! At big companies!! I work for a small garage, my boss is ace, I had a £200 sub in the middle of December, as I knew I wouldn't be geting paid until yesterday.
I'm really quite cross for you!!

It sounds a bit strange..... they would surely have your banks details in their payroll system, why would they manually key your sort code in? Anyway, it's jolly unkind of them to wait until the payment is returned and then issue you with a cheque. They ought to send you a CHAPS payment which can be done same day, seeing as it's their error.
Unfortunately, even if they sent you a CHAPS payment it would only be done on Wednesday as the banks are closed until then which doesn't help you a great deal
I would see a manager tomorrow and explain, handing in your notice seems a bit much, someone's pressed the worng button that's all and I expect that none of the managers have authority to give you actual cash. Even if they gave you store credit to get some shopping and presents it would help.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
Hi,
You need to kick up as much stink as possible, and keep going higher and higher up the management chain until you get a satisfactory solution.
If people do stone wall you - get there names and also try to get someone to put a reply in writing i.e write a quick memo to your store manager stating the facts and that ASDA have stated there is nothing they can do, and then ask him to sign it as a true and accurate record of what has occurred - in my experience managers hate this.
Now also contact any bills due (difficult on a sunday and at xmas I know) and explain the situation to them.
Above all remember that if you pick up any fees or charges from creditors because of this, then ASDA are responsible and should pay them for you.
Pretty dire I know - best luck - dont let them ignore you (the mangers)
Kick a**se.
Best wishes
