crana999 - That's what I did in halls too (not lack of space, merely people leaving my knives to rust in scummy water....
) but here I own the things but they're packed away in storage. It's taken me several months longer to buy a new place than I thought it would...but, it's now only 48 days until I get them back out of storage and I'm so excited I'll be able to make scrummy smooth soup again...
Pre O/S: what's a vitamin? Does it begin with the letter e?Now: I'm not eating any of that pre-made rubbish...0 -

Alternatively for you skinny ones, peel, slice and toss in olive oil, then sprinkle with 'Seasonall' and cook in oven for about 25 mins also delicious.
can potatoes be peeled and sliced then kept fresh (frozen?) for a few days before being cooked? It'd be nice if I could do that over the weekend and cook some during the week if I fancy them but am too tired/not bothered to peel and slice potatoes!
Thanks:)0 -

I have a small kitchen so don't have many gadgets, but this weekend the microwave went kaput, and has made me realise how much i use it.
The other gadgets I would not be without are my processor and my dishwasher.
My dishwasher is working as I type, he's a really good model with extra features, and only breaks down on rare occasions, usually if the footballs on the telly.
I can't see me trading him in for a new model as he has been so reliable for the last 5 years and on many occasions multitasks by doing hoovering and ironing.LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -

:rotfl:I used to have a dishwasher like that!0 -
Toaster - used daily (I LOVE toast!)
Microwave - used daily for vegetables mostely
Water filter - can't stand the taste of tap water and I really only drink water (or wine)
Stick blender thingy - used several times a week
Ancient Kenwood processor - would use more if it worked properly (!)
A few questions:
Is a Dualit toaster woirth the extra?
I've always hankered after a Magimix food processor - are they really worth the extra?
Most of all I would love a larger kitchen! Especially one that I could fit one of thoes large American Fridge/Freezers in. My freezer's in the garage and I'm fed up with going out in the rain just to get a few frozen peas :mad:0 -

I have both these and they were both bought after having inferior models. Food processor? Oh yes! But only because I make pastry two or three times a week, grate cheese most days (we're vegetarian), slice veg and salad every day and other stuff less often. Wouldn't bother if I was just doing one of those things but I use it for more than one thing per meal. I also bake (useful for crumbles/biscuits etc). My last one was much cheaper but not as effective - used to jam or work unevenly.
Toaster? Well, it does make perfect toast every time and toasts the whole slice but that's about it. I got mine last summer. I think it will have been worth the money if it lasts, I've never had a toaster last more than a few years.
Also, both look good!:D0 -

Have had my Dualit toaster for years. It doesn just what it says on the tin ... it toasts very well. And you can easily get parts. I replaced one of the heater elements recently ... very easy, quite cheap to do. Will ensure it'll keep going for another few years.
And of course, definitely looks good....0 -
Thanks Mustang and Magentasue :T - just what I needed to know. I especially like the 'looks good, too' 'cos that's important as well
. I'm sooo fed up with toasters generally as they don't last long enough. Shopping trip coming on I think :j
