Oh swan that sounds gorgeous - I'M HUNGRY NOW!
I was at The Kitchin & a friend was treating me, I feel very VERY lucky
I've been there twice, & am going back in May, they do a 3 course lunch for £27, maybe not very MSE but for a Michelin Starred establishment what a treat :T0 -
Oh dear,I've just Googled spiralizers and now I want one
I really,really don't need anymore kitchen gadgets :rotfl:0 -
Us OSers I feel relish the old days. However there are "new" inventions I really wouldnt want to be without. No need to chuck out the best of the old eg I love making HM meals, baking, pickling, bottling etc and growing veg but I really do appreciate the freezer, non-stick frying pans and the washing machine.
What would you not want to be without?0 -
washing machine and Tumble drier. non-stick pans I can live without - dont mind a good scour!
Steam iron - I can remember ironing as a little girl and I could hardly lift the thing! mum also remembers using the flat irons you had to heat by the fire!
oh - and I must forget the computer! I love being able to log on and find out what I want to know about any subject - or hang out with you guys!0 -
Freezer, washing machine and stick blender would be my top three used 'new' inventions.

I'm glad a computer was mentioned, I'm not sure I would have remembered that, which shows how much I took it for granted.
So computer, washing machine, tumble dryer, washing line, airing cupboard, electric hand held mixer, frost free fridge freezer. That sounds like quite a lot dosn't it.0 -
Luckily whilst Mum was alive and not long after Mum passed I did all I could to stock up on food, buy gadgets to keep me warm, bought CS clothes and have all I think I need to make life easier, most of what has been mentioned already mainly because I may not be able to afford them in the future.
My big worry is what to do when they need repairing/replacing but probably the two things I worry about the most is whether I can afford to stay on the internet and what to do if the computer packs up."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Whilst there are so many frivolous useless gadgets kicking around, I can't help but feel that while I might relish old style living, few of us would be content to go back to the old days themselves. Washing machines, mains gas/electric cookers, fridges, freezers, vacuum cleaners, irons... even food processors and microwaves - we take so many inventions for granted now that we forget just how they freed our mothers and grandmothers from a life of domestic drudgery! I could take or leave most inventions when push comes to shove (I could and have go without most of the above list) but I still wouldn't go back to the old days for all the tea in china0

You can't beat running water and mains electricity. They're the essential luxuries that I am grateful for.0

Couldn't live without a dishwasher, I loathe washing up!0
