Working over Christmas cos of debt.

Any other saddo DFWs driving around Britain over the festive period for work? Personally, I'm in tonight @ 9.30 & travelling to Swindon, Reading, Watford & Premier Park & Hammersmith in London. Sunday is DD's birthday & then Christmas day night I'll be in again @ 10pm & off to Bristol, Gloucester & Hereford. I suppose it's lucky I'm a humbug with Christmas at the best of times! Roll on debt free times.
Donedoingdebt Lightbulb moment January 2000. Debt at highest approx £102,000. Debt now (October 2009 - absolutely fork all!!!)

I'm working Chrimbo eve, and then New Years Day. I draw the line at Christmas day as I have young children, but if we weren't going to stay with in laws would have been happy to work any other day.

My partner is working every day apart from Christmas day I think, started Thursday, busiest time of year for taxi drivers, he'll be in New Years Eve and day as usual, he didn't get home until 5am this morning. Not that we desperately need it but usually January is extremely quiet, so going to bank some for that just incase.
One day I might be more organised...........

Sounds like a commendable gesture to me. I know a couple of firemen who always volunteer to work so that people with young kids can have the day off. They run a system accross the county so that the young & childless firefighters and the people with grown up children manage to spread themselves around stations so no little kiddy has to be without their dad/mum on xmas morning! I always think thats a really sweet thing to do!

I think it's a great idea aswell, jobs I had before the kids I would work Xmas and those with little ones worked New Year, system always worked well and I know others who have said they do it this year. DPs step mum is working the morning but part of me in envious as she is a midwife and it must be lovely helping a delivery of someones extra special Christmas present.
