Thank you! I have a lovely can of coke (don't really drink) and my dad's a bit tipsy and telling silly jokes lol... what more could you want?! See sometimes I think 'mature and responsible' could be substituted for 'middle aged and boring already' :rotfl:

Seriously though, to have you lot here listening to my silly waffling a few minutes before the new year... what more could a girl want? :happyhear

    Love you all :D x

Kath, just read all of this. Firstly good for you, like everyone else has said you should follow your heart(sorry that sounds like it should be in the peoples friend!). There was something I really should have done career wise, didn't do it and I can honestly say that there is hardly a day goes by when I dont regret it.(when I get drunk-well clear the decks!!!). You are sensible to research your decision, you have got time. For what it's worth I think that you would be great, you are warm, funny, kind and wise. Pretty good midwife credentals INMHO. My late mum was a nurse and she always said that if she didn't love the job she couldn't have done it. Noone goes into the NHS to get rich!!! It seems a great idea to examine your motives so that you are sure you are diong the thing thats right for YOU. BUT..........DO NOT be too hatd onyourself. Trust your judgment and you will be fine. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Thank you annie, you always have very wise words for me.

At one point my mum said 'well you'll have to do lots of thinking about things in the next little while' and I replied with 'all I have been doing is thinking, there's such a thing as too much thinking', I guess then she realised that I'm serious and that I have given the whole thing a lot of thought! I didn't really talk to them about being broody and such like... couldn't find how to say it without feeling like it totally destroyed any credibility of the idea (if you see what I mean) but I will at some point I guess. Or not, am feeling much more relaxed about the whole business now!

And.... my dad knows a midwife (from his running club) who is very nice apparently and would probably not mind answering some questions etc, the more the merrier!!
