Friend can't come on holiday

Hi,

Sorry if I'm repeating a previous post...

There are 4 of us booked to fly out on Friday with 2 hotel rooms. Now one of our friends is ill and may not be able to go!

Where does that leave the 3 remaining people who are going? Flights were booked separately from the hotel. The hotel is non refundable and 2 will be staying in each room.

Our friend isn't seriously ill. She has tonsillitis and hopefully with a good dose of antibiotics she'll be okay. Is tonsillitis covered with travel insurance? If she's not okay, what do we do??

Many thanks in advance,
Caroline x

Three of you can go as planned.

If she can't make it on Friday perhaps she can change her flight to when she is better and enjoy a bit of the holiday.

    Which airline is it?

Travel insurance would probably cover her, so long as she can provide a note from her doctor saying that she is too ill to travel.

and providing it is not a re-occurence of a pre-existing medical condition that was not declared when taking out insurance.

Never had a case of tonsillitus causing cancellation of a holiday, so not sure how you would stand. If your friend does not want to travel and claim on the insurance, you need to ensure that the doctor will confirm that they were not fit to travel (not quite sure with Tonsillitus).

Update: Our friend didn't come on holiday. She didn't claim on travel insurance and we had a great time!
