There are usually some good deals on play.com0

I picked up an 8gb one for £7.77 delivered from Mrmemory. There was a deal on Hotukdeals yesterday for a 16Gb one for £9.99 from Bubi, but transfer speead were quite low.
Mine is a Data Traveller and is sufficient for what I need.0 -

Just make sure you avoid ebay with a long barge pole.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

Very true, so many fakes out there.
Always test with H2TestW:

If it's a second hand one, sometimes you can get lucky. I bought one that the seller presumably wanted to fob a problem onto someone else, as it had a corrupted filesystem. Easy fix, and has been stable as a LiveUSB.
For new, I think buying cheap is a mistake. I think it's better value for money overall to get one that is rated with a good speed. I don't use my slow sticks very often, but frequently use the quick ones. In terms of £/use, the slightly more expensive ones come out far cheaper in the long run.0 -
thanks for the suggestions and help guys.
i just rememberd that you can get a usb flash drive that is security/password enabled?
would any of the ones you guys suggested only work with a password?
or do i have to buy a specialist usb drive for that?
thanks0 -

you can use truecrypt on any drive.
what is that? somekind of software that you install on the drive so when u put it in computer it asks for password?
i thought there were drives that made you enter like a 4 digit pin code on the actual drive before you even put it into a computer?
which ones are better/safer do you think?0 -

Truecrypt is a software solution for encrypting drives, quite popular with decent encryption algorithms (Twofish, AES, Serpent) but does have some weaknesses that can be exploited. Ironkey manufactures USB drives that contain many security features: https://www.ironkey.com/enterprise and https://www.ironkey.com/demo-basic0
