I am looking for car insurance got a quote from co op but it was very high. So have gone onto go compare and got some very good prices, problem is when I go to buy it comes up with they can no longer offer us car insurance. Is this because of br, it doesn't ask on the online form do they do an automatic search?.if this is the case does anyone have any suggestions? Help would be greatly appreciated

I was with Sheila's wheels prior to bankruptcy and when it came up for renewal I told them about the bankruptcy and the quote was exactly the same. Co-op would have been dearerBuilding a new life after bankruptcy0

Car insurance seems to have gone up for a lot over the past few months, BR or no BR. From what I've read on here though you would still be better to speak to the companies who have offered competitive quotes on comparison sites as they may not accept BR.
I'm due to renew my car insurance 3 days before discharge so I've still got that hurdle to look forward toFeb 2024:

Hi Pauleen, are you trying to pay by installments?:pB&SC No. 298

we pay by installments and had no hassle, shows on our credit report as a search however a person I know did numerous searches on go compare and got the same message stating it was due to his credit file. The strange thing is he has other insurance with a company who refused him already on installments..........so no rime or reason. If you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j0

The reason I asked about the installments is, if the OP is still BR then any premium over £500 the OP would have to inform the creditor about their BR. I have never had a problem with car or house insurance paying by installments but even when BR my premium was nowhere near £500 sign of old age methinks;):pB&SC No. 298

Dojoman, very good point about paying in instalments but is the £500 the total amount? Sorry if it sounds like a silly question but if you take a premium at £400 odds, then add the charge for payment by instalments etc it often bumps it up above the £500 mark?Feb 2024:

As far as I know it is the total amount for credit, but I may be wrong.:pB&SC No. 298

Thanks everyone for your replies, just to clarify we were discharged 6months ago does this make any difference0

i dont think you need to inform them as you are now discharged BR.
although i am not 100% sure, just BR myself so still learning!0 -
If the company doesn't ask about BR, and you are discharged then I'm pretty sure you don't have to tell themFeb 2024:
