Problem with A Nokia 7110 Mobile:Can you Help?

Hi All
I wondering if anyone can help me with an issue i'm having with my mobile phone.
I have a Nokia 7110 ( stop that sniggering at the back there)
which has been working perfectly. For some reason about a week okay the 02 sim that i have been using in it since i've had it is now not working.
The phone keeps saying 'insert sim'.This is despite the fact the sim is inserted correctly and in the phone
I've always used this particular sim and it has worked perfectly in this same phone for over a year.
I've taken the sim out and it works in other phones.
I've tried different /new sims in my Nokia and despite it normally taking these sims it still says 'insert sim'
i haven't dropped the phone or damaged it in anyway so
i'm just very confused as to why it will now not take this sim
or any other sim.
Does anyone have any ideas/sugguestions etc as to why this may be happening and what if anything i can do to resolve it.?

Thank-you very much Everyone

    Wow!
    You have 3 options:
    1. try to have it checked/repaired (if you can see/access the handset contacts for the sim, make sure that they are not oxidised - try rubbing them with a piece of paper);
    2. buy a new/refurbished 7110 (about £20 - antiques is not cheap);
    3. buy a modern Nokia 1800 for £4.90+£10. After £7.50 cashback (TCB) and selling unwanted sim with credit on e-bay it will be free. http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/payg-mobile-phones?all=1&make=Nokia (ignore that it is on a different network: it is almost definitely unlocked)
  • Hi Grumbler

    Thank-you for these sugguestions.
I do appreciate it.If possible i would rather not have to buy
    another phone.
I have another mobile i can use but i really like this phone
    so i'll try option one.

    Thanks once again.

Sometimes in life you get a sign from above. Think Saul of Tarsus, Joan of Arc, Robert the Bruce, Moses, Blackadder (goes forth). This could be your Joan of Arc moment. You are being told to move on.

A voice is saying "Be strong". The 7110 was released in 1999 and this is now a new century.

I know it's hard, but sometimes it's the kindest thing to have the old friend put down, or put in a care home. Counselling is available, "Old Nokia" self-help groups are all over the country, there are Council grants too!

Joking apart, I wish you luck.
  • Ha Ha you are a class act this really make me smile
( very amusing) i like you but i also like this little relic from a bygone
age and although i think there is more than a grain of truth in what you say i will fight for the 71110 ( until it becomes a lost cause)
I'm standing by my phone ( ala tammy waynette)

So your phone is just like me then! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I know what you mean - I have a 31 year old MG Midget - but I keep it for special occasions and use a modern one for everyday use.
  • Ha Ha,you should do stand up Guys Dad.
I don't use the phone alot as i'm not really a big mobile phone
person really.Life sometimes presents us with these challenges
    ( i should now i'm a gooner).I will seek the answers
( although sometimes in life there are more questions than answers
this may be one of those times i fear)

Of all the high end phones I've had - one a year every 1-2 years for over 10 years - the Nokia 7110 is still my favourite.

Buy another for 20 quid, go on! I couldnt live without the features of the more modern handsets but I've still got a 7110 somewhere. Sadly it has the same Insert SIM Card fault as yours.
  • if i can't fix it i might look at buying another one.
I've tried everything and can't seem to sort the problem out.
I don't use my mobile much so prefer this sort of phone which
is perfect for me ( when it is working of course)

I tried a search on Google and one suggestion is a duff battery can give that error. Perhaps it doesn't supply enough current to the sim?
