Apple Iphone4 - Sim Free

Hi All,

I want to buy my partner an Iphone 4 (I've been saving since christmas and have heeded all the hints)

I want to get a sim free phone so she can decide which network / tariff she wants to use.
Is it better to purchase direct from Apple themselves? Or buy from a network?

Also which network provide the best "pay-as-you-go" sim card for the iphone?

I'm not really up to date on iphones so any help would be great

Thanks

Buy direct from Apple and have a look at GiffGaff for a sim.

Defo worth buying from apple and you can chop and change sims as often as you like!
  • The online Apple store is on TopCashback - not a huge saving but every little helps (2% back)

There are several rumours that's Apple will be releasing the iPhone 5 (or 4S) in September.

So if you've waiting this long it maybe better to wait another couple of months and either get the new version or an iPhone 4 at a cheaper price.

I was in the same situation. Ordered iphone 4 from apple store and will be using with giffgaff £10 goddy bag, overall much cheaper than any network provider.

    Why Apple rather than Amazon?

  • I do agree with linda. You should buy the phone directly from the Apple and for sim, you can go for giffgaff services.

If they were the same price I'd always buy direct from Apple, more for peace of mind should there be any problems with it, I'd rather be dealing direct with Apple then having to deal with Amazon who have no shops so can't deal face to face with anyone etc.

It's the same as if I was to buy a BMW, I'd rather buy it from a BMW dealer over a car supermarket (if they were the same price).

If you're saving money buying from else where then that's a different matter depending on the saving.
  • Apple Deal:

    Buy Direct from apple.

Bought mine from Iphone 4 from apple through topcashback website (2%) with mbna cashback credit card (1%), you get 90 day Apple care support free.

    Sim Deal:

i put a Virgin Mobile 30 Day Sim only contract (excellent reception!) £4.50/month 500mins any network + Unlimited txt (3000 txts) + 1GB Internet (includes 15% NUS student Discount) - i had haggled them down each month from Virgin 15.32/month 30 day contract.

You have to cut virgin sim card to iphone micro sim card size, (extremely simple takes 60 seconds).

    Total Cost:

    £495 iphone 4 (with cashback)
    £54 - 12 months VIRGIN sim cost

    TOTAL COST = £549
